FULL MOON / EQUINOX – 20/21 MARCH 2019 – Zero Point!

equinox

At a few minutes before midnight on 20th March, (in South Africa) the Sun moves into Aries, heralding the start of a brand spanking new Astrological year, as well as the Autumn Equinox.

EQUINOX

The word “equinox” comes from the Latin prefix for “equal” and the word for “night.” Twice a year, the centre of the sun directly aligns with the equator and we receive twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of darkness, no matter where we live. The Sun (masculine) and Moon (feminine) are in perfect balance at this moment, creating a portal through which new life can emerge.

ZERO POINT – REBOOT

Only a few hours later, the Moon opposes the Sun at 0 degrees, forming a Full Moon in Libra. The Sun’s position of zero degrees of Aries is known as the Aries  point on the zodiacal wheel and is the most powerful point of all.

The Aries point represents a movement (cardinal) from an inner quality to an outer manifestation. It orients us towards the world at large—society, public events and all relationships propelled from the individual to the collective. Sometimes it represents a “spectacular out rush of energies… and involvement with the world at large” Celeste Teal

This is the fifth full moon in a row which has been at zero degrees of a sign. With the chart for this Full Moon setting up the theme for the year ahead, and this Full Moon happening on the Cardinal Zero point axis, it strongly suggests that the coming year will be one of bold new beginnings.

CHIRON – THE WOUNDED HEALER

At Full Moon, the Sun is very close to Chiron, the wounded healer, which further reinforces this as a year where deep healing is possible. With Chiron being in Aries, the theme will be the healing of the wound of separation and remind us of our true worth at a deeper level. When we incarnate onto this planet, we all experience a separation from Source and the main purpose (as I see it) of us being here is to rediscover our connection and therefore our wholeness. To become free of the feeling of separation and polarity IS healing, which can only be found in the “Now”. The more we can be bring ourselves back to presence, the less we struggle and the more we heal.

I was reminded of and experienced this very powerfully over the past weekend on a beautiful retreat led by John Homewood – I highly recommend attending one of John’s retreats if you haven’t done so already.

Leading up to, during and just after the Full Moon, you may experience the rising or triggering of your particular pain body (Chiron wound). Whatever arises now will be a key to where the healing can happen this year.

FULL MOON IN LIBRA

The occurrence of the Equinox so close to a full moon is rare and powerful. Being in Libra, La Luna highlights the need for balance, peace, co-operation and shines a light on our relationships. This is a very good time to consider where the imbalances lie within us and in our lives. Issues around money and relationships can come to a head for healing at this time.

This Full Moon seems to be guiding us to go to ground zero with ourselves, release whatever is weighing us down or creating imbalance in our lives and enter into the sacred point of wholeness that is already who we are. Energetically, this feels to me like a re-boot – a turning point, as we bid the last year goodbye and usher in the new, starting with our heart-based intentions for the next Solar Year.

MERCURY AND NEPTUNE

Mercury and Neptune are swimming together in the mystical sign of Pisces, breaking down some of our boundaries and helping us to tune into ourselves, others and the Divine more easily than usual, On the flip side of this, secrets or things that have been swept under the carpet are likely to come into the light and there can be misunderstandings in communications.

With Chiron so prominently positioned this year, its very likely that a mentor or healer will enter our lives to help us to remove obstacles that may be preventing us from stepping into you true spiritual power.

THE GIFT OF CHIRON IN ARIES

To close off, I’ve chosen some wisdom for the this full moon and the New Year from the book Chiron Healing Body and Soul by Martin Lass

“The discovery, acknowledgement, embracing and loving of our special and unique divine design. The realisation of the indestructibility of spirit, despite the transience of forms. The acknowledgement of the Divine within us. The growth of presence and spiritual solidity and the sharing of this by our mere presence and true self-love. The ability to remain firmly but gently in our own space, despite the opinions and actions of others”.

NEW MOON, MERCURY RETROGRADE, URANUS MOVES!

lighting blog

6 MARCH 2019

Change is in the air

This is a big week astrologically, starting with a New Moon in Pisces on the 6th March, which is less than one degree away from Neptune, king of the ocean and ruler of Pisces. Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces on the same day, until 28th March,  which involves a a rare and close dance  with Neptune that will last until the middle of April. This expands and extends the Piscean theme considerably.

Last, but certainly not least, also on 6th March, Uranus, the planet of change, re-enters Taurus, where he will stay until 2025/6.  At this new moon, we have 5 planets in mutable (changeable) signs, suggesting that this is a time where things are shifting and moving at warp speed. The faster they go, the more we need to slooooowwww down and breathe!

PISCES

pisces glyph

Let’s plunge into those Piscean waters a little more deeply. When the Sun makes its way through the sign of the fish, the final sign of the zodiac, it marks the end of our Astrological year. Although New Moons are always the time to plant intentions, this one asks that we hit the pause button on our fast, forward moving,  analytical minds and spend time going within, re-visiting and re-visioning  our dreams, ideals, aspirations, and spirituality and setting intentions from a much deeper, more feminine heart-based place.

Pisces is a mutable water sign (the symbol is of two fish swimming in opposite directions) – representing the healer, the mystic, the artist.  We might see it as one fish giving us access to the dreamworld, the unconscious, imagination, intuition, Divine Connection and calling upon us to surrender to the flow of life.  The other fish might urge us to separate from the flow of life, swim upstream and can lead us to feel confused,  deluded, addicted or  victimised.

The question is – do we choose to go with the flow,  try to swim upstream or find a balance between the two? That, for me, is the theme of the coming lunar month.

The next few weeks  will be very supportive  for dream-work, art, meditation and reaching expanded states of consciousness.   Honour this energy by spending time in and around water and nature, listening to gentle music and quietening yourself as often as you can. Our extra sensory perception, intuition and sensitivity are heightened right now, so if we slow down and listen, we can find healing and receive direct guidance from Source.

If, however, we persist in forging forward, ignoring our bodies and disregarding our intuition, this can be a time of confusion, fogginess, feelings of victim-hood, and misunderstandings. Our bodies will be more sensitive too, so we need to pay more attention to what they are communicating to us and what we’re ingesting.  This is the  time of the year to detox on all levels, release, surrender and flow with what arising. Any resistance to what “is” is only going to make it harder, so why resist… right?

MERCURY RETROGRADE

As you will know if you read my blogs regularly, during Mercury Retrograde, travel plans and communications can and often do, go awry. I highly suggest that you double check any travel bookings, vehicle road-worthiness,  back up all your data and be very clear in your communications with others.  Read the fine print on any contracts carefully over the next few weeks and if you’re unsure, get a second opinion.

URANUS IN TAURUS

Uranus moves into Taurus on the day of the New Moon and will stay there until 2026. The planet of change visited Taurus from  6th May to 7th November last year, so take a few moments to  reflect on what was happening then and you’re likely to find a connection to what’s coming up and changing for you now.  If you have a copy of your chart, this will  likely be in the houses in which Taurus resides. When a slow moving planet like Uranus changes signs, we all feel the energy in some way, but if you have any personal planets or your ascendant in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio) you will probably feel this move more acutely.  Over the next 7 years, Uranus will move over these points in your chart, symbolising some change in those areas.

The interesting thing about Uranus in Taurus is just how different the energies are.

URANUS

Uranus glyph

Uranus was referred to by the Romans as “the great awakener” and to the Greeks,  he was the “God of the sky” and the creator of life as we know it.  The symbol for Uranus is a circle, 2 crescents and a cross, symbolising the bringing of divine truth into our lives on earth. Astrologically, Uranus rules everything related to the sky – lightning, electricity, electronics, new inventions, sound waves, the internet,  metaphysics, alternative modalities, out-the-box thinking,  healing, computers and community.

This energy of Uranus is revolutionary, maverick, free spirited and innovative – a Uranus move can be likened to a flash of lightning, shaking loose whatever is stagnant or immovable, in order to make way for the new.

We could view Uranus moving into a new sign in a similar way as we see a software upgrade on our computer or cell phone. At first it can feel irritating, as we might have to stop what we’re doing and reboot the computer. However, when its done and we settle in to the new changes, we start to appreciate the upgrade and the new features that are available to us.

TAURUS

Where Uranus rules the sky, you might say that Taurus rules planet earth.  This fixed, feminine, earth sign  is very concerned with safety, stability and not shaking the foundations or upsetting the status quo. Particularly when threatened, the bull can  dig his heals  in and stubbornly hang onto whatever seems to constitutes security and safety.

Taurus rules the land, our food, our money,  our physical bodies, beauty, the five senses,  and that which we possess and value.

SKY MEETS EARTH

When Uranus and Taurus combine, there are usually significant, sometimes radical changes.  Globally, a move like this can signal sudden, unpredictable shifts  to planet earth. I’m not an expert in the astrology of  global events, but when Uranus moved into Taurus last year, it coincided with the eruption of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii, which resulted in around 1700 people evacuating their homes.

Historically if we look back, when Uranus was last in Taurus in the 1930’s, the world saw the rise of Hitler and many countries changed their monetary system from the gold standard. Most global astrologers are predicting  many more changes to our monetary systems over the next 7 years, possibly moving more and more towards crypto-currencies etc.  We are likely to see more technological inventions and changes in our health care, personal health monitoring, farming, food and beauty.

We are also likely to see radical change in our  value systems, with more and more people moving towards owning less and simplifying their lives. There could be a lot more people living in communities, sharing resources, cars, homes and working together to become more self sustainable.

As a collective, the next 7 years is calling upon us to raise our consciousness, to attune to and honour this planet and our own bodies.  The best investment we can make is learning to become more self autonomous, live more simply,  start our own businesses, grow our own food and  rely on our own resources, thereby reducing our debt load.

Uranus in Taurus will urge us to really take care our food, our water resources and all aspects of the feminine –  and to remember that Earth is a living, breathing being and without her, we humans cease to exist. If we persist in abusing her as we have done, she will retaliate. This is happening already on a personal level with more and more women widely publicising abuse and mistreatment.

Personally, over the next 7 years we will be asked to reevaluate where we find our safety, belonging and security.  We will be asked to redefine our value systems and our relationship with whatever we believe we possess – (as if we ever really possess anything in this constantly changing world).  We will be asked to question how we define ourselves, which is revealed by the words we speak.  Be aware of sentences  starting with  “I live for… my pets, my job, my home, my art, my partner, my children.  or “I am a …. mother, business person, seeker etc”.  Yes,  these things might be important to us or they might be the roles we play, but we cannot let them define who we are any longer.  I find it helpful, when I feel very attached to something, to put the word “the” in front of it. Instead of “my” car, “my home”, by referring to it as “the car, the home etc, helps to give me some space and perspective, from which I am able to respond with  more clarity.

Uranus in Taurus urges us to find our sense of stability and belonging from the only place that never changes – that quiet still place inside us that is always there, no matter how crazy the world around us is.

HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU PERSONALLY

If you would like to understand where Uranus is moving through your chart and how this move is likely to be working with you personally, you might like to set up an update reading with me.

New Moon February 4th in Aquarius

fishjumping

by Michelle McClunan

February kicks off with a rather sizzling New Moon in Aquarius, which will be  exact at 11:03pm on the 4th Feb in South Africa, and will hopefully start to liberate the somewhat stuck, challenging energy that has been around over the last couple of weeks. Despite all the planets being direct and getting through the eclipse season, many people have asked me what’s going on “up there”  and whether “something” is retrograde. Well, no… all the planets are still direct, until 5th March, when Mercury starts its retrograde cycle.

So then why?  Well… astrologically, Mars, the planet of forward movement has been in a square to good old Saturn, a connection that is often referred to as the handbrake / head against the wall syndrome. One step forward and a couple back.  This connection can also make us feel more tired or weary or NAAFI than normal.

Mars is a masculine planet that represents forward momentum, striving towards our goals and our physical vitality and energy levels.  In Aries, he is in full  warrior mode, brandishing his sword to cut through the dross, impatient to get things MOVING!   But the wise old codger Saturn in Capricorn is standing on the side-lines, reminding us to be responsible adults and not to make stupid, impulsive decisions.

Thankfully, things change constantly up there in the cosmos, as they do right here on our little blue planet. Mars is now separating from Saturn and moving towards Uranus (ruler of this new moon).   He is also moving into a square with intense, transformational Pluto, both of which will be active this new moon.

So… lets translate that into English…

Leading up to and on either side of the New moon, there is likely to be some strong, intense, anxious, irritable, impatient, possibly combative energy around, which could, if unchecked, lead to explosive and/or intense encounters and situations.

Remember to earth yourself regularly, drink plenty of water, be careful on the roads and breeeeeathe!

On the upside (and there’s a big upside to this one) the Moon is accompanied by the Sun and Mercury and all three of them are in a beautiful  flowing connection to benevolent, expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius.  This alignment unlocks a strong maverick,  liberating    “ Free Spirit”  energy for the month ahead.

Aquarius is the sign of the maverick, visionary, freedom lover and innovator, the one who marches to the beat of her own drum, dislikes limitations of all kinds and has perfected the art of leaping out of the box, or getting rid of the box altogether.  This new moon has the potential to give us a proverbial kick up the butt to get out of any unhealthy ruts we may have fallen into and to set new intentions that are aligned to the unique vision we have for our lives. (I have two more spaces on my Vision Board Workshop on 9th Feb to make the most of this energy (only 2 spots available) Email me for details.

I often find myself asking, if happiness, vigour, vitality and vision are our birth right, why we so often sabotage them, before they have a chance to manifest in our lives? Perhaps because we know that in order to start something fresh and new, it’s possible that we may have let go of something that isn’t right for us, move into the unknown, confront something unpleasant or disappoint somebody.

Whenever we set intentions, we’re inviting the Universe to join us in co-creating something new and that always means that something will change.  The fear of change can keep us doing the same thing over and over again.

And so… we keep singing the same song, doing things the same way, staying in our comfort zones, even though they’re often anything but comfortable, often becoming prisons, which prevent us from growing and learning.

When we push the limits, they move – and this Moon is suggesting  that we do just that!

The situations in our lives that make us feel irritated, fearful, nervous, overwhelmed, inhibited or even angry, will usually tell us where we are repeating the same patterns and behaviours over and over again.

As Einstein apparently said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”.  So, if we want something we’ve never had, we’ve got to do something we’ve never done!

With Pluto as part of this cosmic party, now is the perfect time to dig a little deeper!

  • Ask yourself where you repeat the same behaviours, and how they are serving you – (and they are serving you on some level, otherwise you wouldn’t be repeating them).
  • What areas of your life feel stuck, limited or just too damned comfortable?
  • What are you afraid will change, if YOU change?

What if, this New Moon, we infuse something “new” and exciting into our lives. Go somewhere different, take an alternative route to work, try something adventurous, get a funky haircut, chat with people  we wouldn’t normally chat to? Maybe pretend that we’re on holiday in our own city?

The good news is that every time we do something new, we literally start to form new neural pathways in our brains, which get stronger and stronger each time we practice. Eventually, if we work on stretching ourselves, we won’t be afraid of anything! Imagine that!

Full Moon January 21st Total Lunar Eclipse – Rainbow Portal

rainbow nl

Hi everybody.  Are you feeling the potent energy of the forthcoming total eclipse that is building on 20th/ 21st January?

We are currently in between two eclipses, which is known as a gateway or portal, taking us from where we have been to where we want to be.

Not only is this  a total Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, but  also a “blood moon” and “super moon”, due to its totality and closeness to the earth.  You could safely say it’s a full moon on steroids! As the ancients would have reminded us, blood moons  often coincide with powerful endings and karmic lessons.

In South Africa, the actual eclipse happens at 7:16am on 21st Jan, so we won’t be able to see it, but we will most certainly be feeling it –as some of you probably already are!

This is an important astrological event, because it’s the last eclipse there will occur on the Leo / Aquarius axis for another 19 years. Eclipses happen in cycles (like everything in astrology) and straddle a pair of signs over a period of about 2 years.  SO…, this one, is a big culmination of what was happening in our lives in February 2017 and also has longer threads back to the period between Aug 1998 and July 2000.

With a colourful Leonine flourish, this closing eclipse can bring home the message and the learning of the last two/ 21 years.

The degree of this eclipse is 0 degrees of Leo, opposite the Sun at 0 degrees of Aquarius. If you understand a bit of astrology and have a copy of your chart, look at the houses that Leo and Aquarius reside in and rule. For example, if Leo rules or resides in your 9th house of travel/ higher learning/ new philosophies, you might find that that something which was happening then in those areas, might occur again, but in a different way. Remember that we don’t just go around in circles. We evolve spirally, so this is another layer up!

RAINBOW PORTAL

An eclipse always represents a gateway, an opportunity, an opening… as well as a time when whatever has been going on beneath the surface, tends to rise up.  Being a full moon, the focus is likely to be on relationships – those with the people in our lives, as well as with our money, our bodies, our homes etc. The good news is that due to the way the planets are aligning around this eclipse, there is a real potential to clear and shift old patterns and obstacles!

This lunar eclipse is a aligned with the North node, which means its connected with our unique purpose as co-creators!  It beckons us to stand up and be counted, to put our money where our mouths are and to display our true colours.

The sun in airy Aquarius (which represents visionary ideas,  originality, out-the-boxness, community, the collective )  fans the flames of this moon   which is in multi-coloured Leo,  and represents  individual creativity, expression, joy, warmth, generosity and fun.

Together they form a square to Uranus,  the planet of individual and collective consciousness and liberation. The alignment can bring about sudden changes (particularly if you have felt like you’ve been going around in circles on the same pond for a while).  It can also feel disruptive or eruptive for some, particularly if you are hanging on to the status quo too tightly.  Heads up – Its likely to expose whatever is preventing us from stepping into our true, individual beingness.

If we’re able to find our still-point in the midst of all the current movement, there’s an excellent chance that we can use the energy of this eclipse to shift, resolve and clear old redundant issues, close a chapter, shift our consciousness and turn a corner.

On the day of the eclipse, Jupiter and Venus (known as the two beneficial planets) are hanging out together at the same degree in optimistic, far reaching, adventurous Sagittarius and in a beautiful trine to Mars in Aries.  And there’s  more – ALL  the planets are now direct (i.e none are retrograde)  which is the first time in ages and ages.  This provides us with a big, sunny, open  window of luck, possible good fortune and forward momentum… at last!

The eclipse ushers  a beautiful invitation for us to connect with and express our true colours in all their glory– our inner sun, our heart, our creative life source (Leo) and then allow our unique expression to shine and ripple out into the world (Aquarius).

HOW BEST  TO ALIGN WITH THIS ENERGY

If there is a situation or issue that you’re not sure how to resolve, try sitting quietly for a  few moments. Connect to your breath and then gently place the situation inside your heart. Send send light and love into it, breathe out and surrender it upwards and outwards.

Then be  on the lookout  for unexpected aha moments, ideas, synchronous meetings, downloads,  inspirations and  new answers to old problems. They WILL come in if we are open enough. We simply need to show up in our true  multi-coloured presence!

To make the most of the co-creator / forward energy of this time, you might try this:

Take three pieces of paper. On each one, list one thing/ situation that you would really like to create/  bring into your life and the reasons why. Then on the reverse, write why you are ready to manifest it– no buts, no maybes, no negatives.  Then release it to the eclipse and see what happens!

VISION BOARD WORKSHOP

To make the most of this visionary energy, I will be running two workshops over the next few weeks. I have only one place left on the 19th February and a few available on 9th Feb. Pop me an email if you would like to join us.

ASTROLOGY CONSULTS – YOUR SOLAR RETURN

You with the sad eyes

Don’t be discouraged

Oh I realize

It’s hard to take courage

In a world full of people

You can lose sight of it all

And the darkness inside you

Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colours

Shining through

I see your true colours

And that’s why I love you

So don’t be afraid to let them show

Your true colours

True colours are beautiful

NEW MOON JANUARY 6TH IN CAPRICORN

This step.jpgNEXT STEPS

– This beautiful image was created at my Ebb & Flow Retreat last year by Jenny Piercey

Can you even believe that another year has ended and a new one has begun?  Happy New Year everybody!

If you’re anything like me, you might be feeling that we’re still in 2018! This could be because we started the year with the Moon in her waning cycle, which isn’t necessarily the most optimal energy for setting intentions and getting those over-indulged Christmas-infused engines going.

Energetically, the official start to this calendar year as I see it, is marked by the New Moon/ partial Solar Eclipse on the 6th January. New Moons always mark new beginnings and provide us with powerful opportunities every month to set intentions, send them out into the Universe and start new endeavours.

EARTH – CAPRICORN

This is a particularly strong one, setting the theme for the year. The Sun and Moon are joined in Capricorn by Mercury and the South Node and flanked by transformational Pluto on one side and Saturn, the wise teacher on the other. That’s a LOT of Capricorn/ambitious/ goal setting energy right there!

Depending on where and how this plays out in your personal chart, on a positive note, it’s likely to bring some commitment, common sense, maturity and clarity to your thought processes and decision making, with regards to how you want to move forward in your life.  However, it could also feel a little heavy – as if there’s a giant finger wagging in front of you, demanding to know what your next move is going to be. With Pluto joining this little party, there could also be  some intense encounters with others, around security, money, business and/or home.

FIRE

Uranus turning direct in Aries and Mars in the same sign adds some fire energy to the mix, which bodes well for moving forward with new ideas, but can also ignite anger or aggression. Deeeeep breaths people!

GOALS… RESPONSIBILITIES!

It may be that the prospect of another year is a bit overwhelming or responsibility laden. All those expectations …. all those goals you need to set for 2019… all those things you have to accomplish… the weight you need to lose or gain…. the decisions you need to make….  the diets you need to go on…. the money you need to earn…. the parts of yourself you have to fix…….

Really… ?

Truly…..?

It all just sounds exhausting to me!

SOFTENING INTO FLOW

Fortunately Neptune is around to soften things and suggests that we don’t have to control every little thing or figure it all out!. The King of the ocean beckons us into the flow of life, over and over again and reminds us that “success” is an inner, not an outer thing;  that striving and  outward success is not guaranteed to make us happy.

BALANCE

With the Moon’s nodes on the Cancer/ Capricorn axis until mid 2020, we are all being prompted to find a balance between being and doing,  nurturing/ nourishing and excelling out there in the world, between the inner and the outer.  We are reminded that stopping, resting, and tuning in is vital and the only way to reallly get into sync with ourselves and our innate life force, which is the starting point of everything.

THE PRESENT MOMENT

This present moment really is the only reality, so why not make one of the goals this year to commit to that!

“The most important time in your life, is now

The most important person in your life, is the one in front of you… now

The most important activity in your life, is what you are doing now”

From “A Monk’s Journey”  Deepak Chopra

Really let those words seep into your soul!  They give me goosebumps!

There’s certainly nothing wrong with having goals and dreams, but when we define ourselves by them or link our self-worth to them, we are destined to live in an llusory future and very possibly set ourselves up for suffering.

How do you specifically, bring yourself into the present?  What about committing to more of that?  How do you love to feel?  Why not commit to doing/being more of whatever it is that makes you feel that and see what flows from there?

TO COMMIT OR NOT TO COMMIT

This New Moon,  have another look at your calendar, reassess your goals and ask yourself which ones you really, really, really want to commit to and why. If you have set goals to please others, perhaps question their  validity. If you are committing to things that don’t feel right for you anymore, can you choose differently?  How many of the things you have on your list bring a feeling of joy and expansion?  The one thing we do have as human being is the power of choice!

There really isn’t any sense in getting “ there” (wherever that might be) and being too exhausted to enjoy it.

SUSTAINABLE VISION – STEP BY STEP

With Venus joining Jupiter in Sagittarius on 7th January, we really do have the potential  this year of  tuning into the highest possible, achievable and sustainable visions we have for our lives and then committing to them with all the joy and presence that we can muster.

ASTROLOGY CONSULTATIONS

I have opened bookings for Astrology Consultations and Coaching Sessions from 22nd January. Please email me if you’d like to schedule an appointment.

VISION BOARD WORKSHOPS

Energetically the next two months are  definitely the best time to clarify our visions and put them out there, so I’ll be running two VISION BOARD workshops – one on the 19th January and the other on the 9th February.  I only have 2 spots left on 19th January, so be sure to book quickly if you’d like to join us on that day. So many people tell me that the visions they worked with in last year’s workshop have already manifested 🙂 –  so its really important to keep them updated and fresh. For more info  or to book, please email me

Here’s to an wonderful year ! I look forward to sharing it with you.

Blessings

Michelle

FULL MOON DECEMBER 2018 & SUMMER SOLSTICE

Full Moon December 2018 and Summer Solstice are on the same day this year!  Click here for a beautiful song and images which celebrate this.

The 22nd December is a big day for us all. In the Southern Hemisphere, we have the Summer Solstice in the wee hours of the morning, marking the Sun’s entry into Capricorn and ushering in the change of seasons. It also represents the balance between light and dark, both inside and outside of ourselves. .

The Solstice is  always a powerful time to release the old and dream in the new, but this one is even more potent than normal, due to the full moon happening later that same day. According to the Farmers Almanac, this  has only happened 10 times since 1793, so it’s rather a rarity.

And there’s more…

ZERO POINT

This Full Moon also occurs at 0 degrees Cancer, known in Astrology as the Cardinal, Zero or Alpha point,  and representing an outward initiatory movement of energy.

The Moon being at the first degree of Cancer, suggests that our need to engage emotionally,  to love and to nurture, moves from ourselves outwards into the world. It’s a good time to reach out to people you’ve had differences with or those who might feel lonely and isolated at this time of the year.

The Sun at the first degree of Capricorn, suggests that our urge to bring about tangible results moves in an outward direction too, which bodes very well when considering our intentions for the New Year.

The next 3 full moons will also be at 0 degrees of the signs they are in,  so it seems like 2019 will be a year of bold new beginnings.

FULL MOON IN CANCER

The Moon  is always her most luminous, most powerful and most feminine when she passes through the nurturing sign of the crab and when she’s in her fullness, Mama Luna really does rule the night sky.

So, this promises to be a sensitizing, softening, heart opening moon, bringing into focus matters  around family, home, safety, security and our goals for the future. If you have been ignoring the needs of your body and soul, then this Full Moon will most certainly shine a light on those areas and show you what needs to be done. If you’ve hardened, she will soften you,  if you allow her to. This is the perfect time to reconnect with your inner world, your ancestors, your family and nourish yourself and each other  with what is real and true.

On the 21st/22nd December, be sure to take some time to reflect on the past year

Think back on what you can remember about each month and how this year has shaped, grown and expanded you.

  • What have the challenges been and have they helped you in any way to reach another level of understanding or self acceptance?
  • What have you achieved and what have you not?
  • Who has entered your life and who has left – and what have you learnt fromhat?

Then, with great empathy and compassion,  recognise the wins,  losses,  challenges and  victories, acknowledging every single thing as an integral part of your journey.

A lovely ritual you can do at the Full Moon Solstice, is to write down anything you want to release from the year and surrender it into a candle flame or a bonfire. Remember that fire transmutes and transforms, changes what was, into something else, so the process of burning is really  powerful.

The New Moon in Capricorn on January 6th will be the best time to set your intentions for the New Year

Full Moon November 23rd – Don’t believe everything you think!

full moon gemini.jpg

by Michelle McClunan

Full moon November 23rd  is in Gemini, opposite the Sun, Jupiter and Mercury in Sagittarius and squaring Mars. This makes for a big, rather blustery, restless, perhaps slightly opinionated or impatient energy, which you might be feeling even now, in the lead up to the full moon.

On the upside, Sagittarius and its ruler Jupiter are all about big ideas, new perspectives, expansiveness, freedom and wonderful new visions for our lives. This sets the scene for the next year, as Jupiter has just moved into his own sign of Sagittarius. We’ll be exploring this more in the months to come.

For now, with Jupiter (our largest planet) being so close to the Sun and opposite the moon, does suggest BIG energy, big emotions, possibly big weather / maybe more bush fires and big internal and external changes.

And…. we also have no less than 7 planetary bodies in mutable signs right now. Mutable energy can be adaptable, restless, changeable, confused, edgy or even unstable.   This is a good time to  explore different perspectives, spread our nets wider,  travel, learn and dream.   However, It’s not that greatest time for detail-orientated projects. If you have a task that requires a lot of focused energy, it would be optimal to leave it for a few days. If you do it now, you might get more irritated than normal and/or make mistakes. If you don’t have the option of postponing it for a bit,  just make sure you have regular breaks.

The best thing we can all do right now is to consciously and repeatedly take ourselves out of the drama and plant ourselves firmly in the role of the observer, focus on our breath and earth ourselves – Spending  time outside barefoot every day will help to ground this energy.

MERCURY RETROGRADE

Mercury has just turned retrograde  and will stay that way until 6 December.  The winged messenger is currently  square  Neptune, making for potentially unclear communications, both within  and outside of us.  As many of you know, Mercury Retrograde can and often does, coincide with disturbances or breakdowns in all forms of communication and conveyance.

SO, even if it feels like you don’t have the time, take a few moments to back up your ALL your data – across all your devices. Check your travel bookings twice or three times before you push the button and allow for extra time to get wherever you’re going. Check documents before you sign them and take ten deep breaths before you react verbally – to anything. It’s a good time to reflect, reassess, research & reduce information overload.

And … Don’t believe everything you think or hear at this time!

WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE

  • As a thought appears, see if you can step into the role of the observer and view it from a different perspective.
  • Before you say anything to anyone ( including yourself) you might ask if it’s actually true or necessary.
  • If you’re feeling scattered and battling to make a decision about something, you could try sitting  quietly and connecting with a “you” of a different age and asking what he/she would do in the situation you are faced with. Try it … it really does work. Ask the 5 year old you, the 14 year old you, the 90 year old you and see what comes up!
  • Or you could ask what somebody you respect would do. If it’s a money/business issue, you could ask what Richard Branson would do.  If a spiritual issue, what a specific spiritual teacher’s  advice would be.
  • Or you could just ask  yourself what would a wise person do in this situation.

As soon as we do this, we are able to look at things from a different perspective, we have access to different solutions to our problems.

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” Wayne Dyer

CONSULTATIONS

I am taking a break from consulting in December, but am booking now for January. Please get in touch with me if you’d like to set up a reading for the New Year.

LA LUNA LA FEMME – MOON JOURNAL

As some of you might know, I am collaborating with two amazingly talented young women,  Keri Bainborough and Amy Keevy in producing a Monthly Moon Journal. We launched it in November and the wonderful  feedback is that it is really helping to connect women to the magic of their natural rhythms and therefore themselves, whether or not they are still menstruating.

If you’re keen to learn more about setting new and full moon intentions, holding ceremony, journalling and creating ritual in your life – if you really want to get in touch with yourself as a woman,, head on over to the online shop  and purchase you December copy.  And please pop over and follow us on Instagram  Or like us on Facebook
