FULL MOON / EQUINOX – 20/21 MARCH 2019 – Zero Point!

equinox

At a few minutes before midnight on 20th March, (in South Africa) the Sun moves into Aries, heralding the start of a brand spanking new Astrological year, as well as the Autumn Equinox.

EQUINOX

The word “equinox” comes from the Latin prefix for “equal” and the word for “night.” Twice a year, the centre of the sun directly aligns with the equator and we receive twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of darkness, no matter where we live. The Sun (masculine) and Moon (feminine) are in perfect balance at this moment, creating a portal through which new life can emerge.

ZERO POINT – REBOOT

Only a few hours later, the Moon opposes the Sun at 0 degrees, forming a Full Moon in Libra. The Sun’s position of zero degrees of Aries is known as the Aries  point on the zodiacal wheel and is the most powerful point of all.

The Aries point represents a movement (cardinal) from an inner quality to an outer manifestation. It orients us towards the world at large—society, public events and all relationships propelled from the individual to the collective. Sometimes it represents a “spectacular out rush of energies… and involvement with the world at large” Celeste Teal

This is the fifth full moon in a row which has been at zero degrees of a sign. With the chart for this Full Moon setting up the theme for the year ahead, and this Full Moon happening on the Cardinal Zero point axis, it strongly suggests that the coming year will be one of bold new beginnings.

CHIRON – THE WOUNDED HEALER

At Full Moon, the Sun is very close to Chiron, the wounded healer, which further reinforces this as a year where deep healing is possible. With Chiron being in Aries, the theme will be the healing of the wound of separation and remind us of our true worth at a deeper level. When we incarnate onto this planet, we all experience a separation from Source and the main purpose (as I see it) of us being here is to rediscover our connection and therefore our wholeness. To become free of the feeling of separation and polarity IS healing, which can only be found in the “Now”. The more we can be bring ourselves back to presence, the less we struggle and the more we heal.

I was reminded of and experienced this very powerfully over the past weekend on a beautiful retreat led by John Homewood – I highly recommend attending one of John’s retreats if you haven’t done so already.

Leading up to, during and just after the Full Moon, you may experience the rising or triggering of your particular pain body (Chiron wound). Whatever arises now will be a key to where the healing can happen this year.

FULL MOON IN LIBRA

The occurrence of the Equinox so close to a full moon is rare and powerful. Being in Libra, La Luna highlights the need for balance, peace, co-operation and shines a light on our relationships. This is a very good time to consider where the imbalances lie within us and in our lives. Issues around money and relationships can come to a head for healing at this time.

This Full Moon seems to be guiding us to go to ground zero with ourselves, release whatever is weighing us down or creating imbalance in our lives and enter into the sacred point of wholeness that is already who we are. Energetically, this feels to me like a re-boot – a turning point, as we bid the last year goodbye and usher in the new, starting with our heart-based intentions for the next Solar Year.

MERCURY AND NEPTUNE

Mercury and Neptune are swimming together in the mystical sign of Pisces, breaking down some of our boundaries and helping us to tune into ourselves, others and the Divine more easily than usual, On the flip side of this, secrets or things that have been swept under the carpet are likely to come into the light and there can be misunderstandings in communications.

With Chiron so prominently positioned this year, its very likely that a mentor or healer will enter our lives to help us to remove obstacles that may be preventing us from stepping into you true spiritual power.

THE GIFT OF CHIRON IN ARIES

To close off, I’ve chosen some wisdom for the this full moon and the New Year from the book Chiron Healing Body and Soul by Martin Lass

“The discovery, acknowledgement, embracing and loving of our special and unique divine design. The realisation of the indestructibility of spirit, despite the transience of forms. The acknowledgement of the Divine within us. The growth of presence and spiritual solidity and the sharing of this by our mere presence and true self-love. The ability to remain firmly but gently in our own space, despite the opinions and actions of others”.

New Moon February 4th in Aquarius

fishjumping

by Michelle McClunan

February kicks off with a rather sizzling New Moon in Aquarius, which will be  exact at 11:03pm on the 4th Feb in South Africa, and will hopefully start to liberate the somewhat stuck, challenging energy that has been around over the last couple of weeks. Despite all the planets being direct and getting through the eclipse season, many people have asked me what’s going on “up there”  and whether “something” is retrograde. Well, no… all the planets are still direct, until 5th March, when Mercury starts its retrograde cycle.

So then why?  Well… astrologically, Mars, the planet of forward movement has been in a square to good old Saturn, a connection that is often referred to as the handbrake / head against the wall syndrome. One step forward and a couple back.  This connection can also make us feel more tired or weary or NAAFI than normal.

Mars is a masculine planet that represents forward momentum, striving towards our goals and our physical vitality and energy levels.  In Aries, he is in full  warrior mode, brandishing his sword to cut through the dross, impatient to get things MOVING!   But the wise old codger Saturn in Capricorn is standing on the side-lines, reminding us to be responsible adults and not to make stupid, impulsive decisions.

Thankfully, things change constantly up there in the cosmos, as they do right here on our little blue planet. Mars is now separating from Saturn and moving towards Uranus (ruler of this new moon).   He is also moving into a square with intense, transformational Pluto, both of which will be active this new moon.

So… lets translate that into English…

Leading up to and on either side of the New moon, there is likely to be some strong, intense, anxious, irritable, impatient, possibly combative energy around, which could, if unchecked, lead to explosive and/or intense encounters and situations.

Remember to earth yourself regularly, drink plenty of water, be careful on the roads and breeeeeathe!

On the upside (and there’s a big upside to this one) the Moon is accompanied by the Sun and Mercury and all three of them are in a beautiful  flowing connection to benevolent, expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius.  This alignment unlocks a strong maverick,  liberating    “ Free Spirit”  energy for the month ahead.

Aquarius is the sign of the maverick, visionary, freedom lover and innovator, the one who marches to the beat of her own drum, dislikes limitations of all kinds and has perfected the art of leaping out of the box, or getting rid of the box altogether.  This new moon has the potential to give us a proverbial kick up the butt to get out of any unhealthy ruts we may have fallen into and to set new intentions that are aligned to the unique vision we have for our lives. (I have two more spaces on my Vision Board Workshop on 9th Feb to make the most of this energy (only 2 spots available) Email me for details.

I often find myself asking, if happiness, vigour, vitality and vision are our birth right, why we so often sabotage them, before they have a chance to manifest in our lives? Perhaps because we know that in order to start something fresh and new, it’s possible that we may have let go of something that isn’t right for us, move into the unknown, confront something unpleasant or disappoint somebody.

Whenever we set intentions, we’re inviting the Universe to join us in co-creating something new and that always means that something will change.  The fear of change can keep us doing the same thing over and over again.

And so… we keep singing the same song, doing things the same way, staying in our comfort zones, even though they’re often anything but comfortable, often becoming prisons, which prevent us from growing and learning.

When we push the limits, they move – and this Moon is suggesting  that we do just that!

The situations in our lives that make us feel irritated, fearful, nervous, overwhelmed, inhibited or even angry, will usually tell us where we are repeating the same patterns and behaviours over and over again.

As Einstein apparently said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”.  So, if we want something we’ve never had, we’ve got to do something we’ve never done!

With Pluto as part of this cosmic party, now is the perfect time to dig a little deeper!

  • Ask yourself where you repeat the same behaviours, and how they are serving you – (and they are serving you on some level, otherwise you wouldn’t be repeating them).
  • What areas of your life feel stuck, limited or just too damned comfortable?
  • What are you afraid will change, if YOU change?

What if, this New Moon, we infuse something “new” and exciting into our lives. Go somewhere different, take an alternative route to work, try something adventurous, get a funky haircut, chat with people  we wouldn’t normally chat to? Maybe pretend that we’re on holiday in our own city?

The good news is that every time we do something new, we literally start to form new neural pathways in our brains, which get stronger and stronger each time we practice. Eventually, if we work on stretching ourselves, we won’t be afraid of anything! Imagine that!

ASTROLOGY CONSULTS –  YOUR SOLAR RETURN

Each year, the sun returns to the same position it was on the day you were born. This is called your Solar Return, which is why we wish people Many Happy Returns on their birthday. After you’ve had your natal chart done, its a good idea to have an update once a year. This is a stand alone chart, which gives you a weather report for the year ahead. Referring to this during the year, will help you to stay on track with your Soular Power.  We will also look at transits and progressions to your  natal chart, which remains your fundamental Astrological blueprint.

I also do readings to help to bring understanding to your relationships with your children, partners and colleagues.

Full Moon January 21st Total Lunar Eclipse – Rainbow Portal

rainbow nl

Hi everybody.  Are you feeling the potent energy of the forthcoming total eclipse that is building on 20th/ 21st January?

We are currently in between two eclipses, which is known as a gateway or portal, taking us from where we have been to where we want to be.

Not only is this  a total Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, but  also a “blood moon” and “super moon”, due to its totality and closeness to the earth.  You could safely say it’s a full moon on steroids! As the ancients would have reminded us, blood moons  often coincide with powerful endings and karmic lessons.

In South Africa, the actual eclipse happens at 7:16am on 21st Jan, so we won’t be able to see it, but we will most certainly be feeling it –as some of you probably already are!

This is an important astrological event, because it’s the last eclipse there will occur on the Leo / Aquarius axis for another 19 years. Eclipses happen in cycles (like everything in astrology) and straddle a pair of signs over a period of about 2 years.  SO…, this one, is a big culmination of what was happening in our lives in February 2017 and also has longer threads back to the period between Aug 1998 and July 2000.

With a colourful Leonine flourish, this closing eclipse can bring home the message and the learning of the last two/ 21 years.

The degree of this eclipse is 0 degrees of Leo, opposite the Sun at 0 degrees of Aquarius. If you understand a bit of astrology and have a copy of your chart, look at the houses that Leo and Aquarius reside in and rule. For example, if Leo rules or resides in your 9th house of travel/ higher learning/ new philosophies, you might find that that something which was happening then in those areas, might occur again, but in a different way. Remember that we don’t just go around in circles. We evolve spirally, so this is another layer up!

RAINBOW PORTAL

An eclipse always represents a gateway, an opportunity, an opening… as well as a time when whatever has been going on beneath the surface, tends to rise up.  Being a full moon, the focus is likely to be on relationships – those with the people in our lives, as well as with our money, our bodies, our homes etc. The good news is that due to the way the planets are aligning around this eclipse, there is a real potential to clear and shift old patterns and obstacles!

This lunar eclipse is a aligned with the North node, which means its connected with our unique purpose as co-creators!  It beckons us to stand up and be counted, to put our money where our mouths are and to display our true colours.

The sun in airy Aquarius (which represents visionary ideas,  originality, out-the-boxness, community, the collective )  fans the flames of this moon   which is in multi-coloured Leo,  and represents  individual creativity, expression, joy, warmth, generosity and fun.

Together they form a square to Uranus,  the planet of individual and collective consciousness and liberation. The alignment can bring about sudden changes (particularly if you have felt like you’ve been going around in circles on the same pond for a while).  It can also feel disruptive or eruptive for some, particularly if you are hanging on to the status quo too tightly.  Heads up – Its likely to expose whatever is preventing us from stepping into our true, individual beingness.

If we’re able to find our still-point in the midst of all the current movement, there’s an excellent chance that we can use the energy of this eclipse to shift, resolve and clear old redundant issues, close a chapter, shift our consciousness and turn a corner.

On the day of the eclipse, Jupiter and Venus (known as the two beneficial planets) are hanging out together at the same degree in optimistic, far reaching, adventurous Sagittarius and in a beautiful trine to Mars in Aries.  And there’s  more – ALL  the planets are now direct (i.e none are retrograde)  which is the first time in ages and ages.  This provides us with a big, sunny, open  window of luck, possible good fortune and forward momentum… at last!

The eclipse ushers  a beautiful invitation for us to connect with and express our true colours in all their glory– our inner sun, our heart, our creative life source (Leo) and then allow our unique expression to shine and ripple out into the world (Aquarius).

HOW BEST  TO ALIGN WITH THIS ENERGY

If there is a situation or issue that you’re not sure how to resolve, try sitting quietly for a  few moments. Connect to your breath and then gently place the situation inside your heart. Send send light and love into it, breathe out and surrender it upwards and outwards.

Then be  on the lookout  for unexpected aha moments, ideas, synchronous meetings, downloads,  inspirations and  new answers to old problems. They WILL come in if we are open enough. We simply need to show up in our true  multi-coloured presence!

To make the most of the co-creator / forward energy of this time, you might try this:

Take three pieces of paper. On each one, list one thing/ situation that you would really like to create/  bring into your life and the reasons why. Then on the reverse, write why you are ready to manifest it– no buts, no maybes, no negatives.  Then release it to the eclipse and see what happens!

VISION BOARD WORKSHOP

To make the most of this visionary energy, I will be running two workshops over the next few weeks. I have only one place left on the 19th February and a few available on 9th Feb. Pop me an email if you would like to join us.

TRUE COLOURS LYRICS

You with the sad eyes

Don’t be discouraged

Oh I realize

It’s hard to take courage

In a world full of people

You can lose sight of it all

And the darkness inside you

Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colours

Shining through

I see your true colours

And that’s why I love you

So don’t be afraid to let them show

Your true colours

True colours are beautiful

Like a rainbow

Full Moon November 23rd – Don’t believe everything you think!

full moon gemini.jpg

by Michelle McClunan

Full moon November 23rd  is in Gemini, opposite the Sun, Jupiter and Mercury in Sagittarius and squaring Mars. This makes for a big, rather blustery, restless, perhaps slightly opinionated or impatient energy, which you might be feeling even now, in the lead up to the full moon.

On the upside, Sagittarius and its ruler Jupiter are all about big ideas, new perspectives, expansiveness, freedom and wonderful new visions for our lives. This sets the scene for the next year, as Jupiter has just moved into his own sign of Sagittarius. We’ll be exploring this more in the months to come.

For now, with Jupiter (our largest planet) being so close to the Sun and opposite the moon, does suggest BIG energy, big emotions, possibly big weather / maybe more bush fires and big internal and external changes.

And…. we also have no less than 7 planetary bodies in mutable signs right now. Mutable energy can be adaptable, restless, changeable, confused, edgy or even unstable.   This is a good time to  explore different perspectives, spread our nets wider,  travel, learn and dream.   However, It’s not that greatest time for detail-orientated projects. If you have a task that requires a lot of focused energy, it would be optimal to leave it for a few days. If you do it now, you might get more irritated than normal and/or make mistakes. If you don’t have the option of postponing it for a bit,  just make sure you have regular breaks.

The best thing we can all do right now is to consciously and repeatedly take ourselves out of the drama and plant ourselves firmly in the role of the observer, focus on our breath and earth ourselves – Spending  time outside barefoot every day will help to ground this energy.

MERCURY RETROGRADE

Mercury has just turned retrograde  and will stay that way until 6 December.  The winged messenger is currently  square  Neptune, making for potentially unclear communications, both within  and outside of us.  As many of you know, Mercury Retrograde can and often does, coincide with disturbances or breakdowns in all forms of communication and conveyance.

SO, even if it feels like you don’t have the time, take a few moments to back up your ALL your data – across all your devices. Check your travel bookings twice or three times before you push the button and allow for extra time to get wherever you’re going. Check documents before you sign them and take ten deep breaths before you react verbally – to anything. It’s a good time to reflect, reassess, research & reduce information overload.

And … Don’t believe everything you think or hear at this time!

WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE

  • As a thought appears, see if you can step into the role of the observer and view it from a different perspective.
  • Before you say anything to anyone ( including yourself) you might ask if it’s actually true or necessary.
  • If you’re feeling scattered and battling to make a decision about something, you could try sitting  quietly and connecting with a “you” of a different age and asking what he/she would do in the situation you are faced with. Try it … it really does work. Ask the 5 year old you, the 14 year old you, the 90 year old you and see what comes up!
  • Or you could ask what somebody you respect would do. If it’s a money/business issue, you could ask what Richard Branson would do.  If a spiritual issue, what a specific spiritual teacher’s  advice would be.
  • Or you could just ask  yourself what would a wise person do in this situation.

As soon as we do this, we are able to look at things from a different perspective, we have access to different solutions to our problems.

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” Wayne Dyer

New Moon November – Jewels from the Depths

Scorp moon big.jpg

New Moon November 7th, sets the scene for the month ahead, so even if you miss it, this may be worth reading.

The upcoming New Moon is deeply intense, transformational and healing, being in Scorpio – a feminine, fixed water sign and trine to Neptune (mystical, magical,  healer of the unconscious and ruler of our dreamworld)  On the same day, Uranus moves back into Aries (from Taurus), opposes Venus and squares the nodal axis.  And lastly, Jupiter travels through the 29th degree of Scorpio, before he moves into Sagittarius. Final degrees are always known as a critical point on the wheel.  I explored Jupiter in Scorpio here

That’s a lot of astrology, I know… so I’ll try and break it down!

SCORPIO – INTO THE DEPTHS

Scorpio energy is always intense, focused, intimate and penetrative – interested not in superficiality, but rather in what lies beneath the surface. Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, the planet of transformation. Both the sign and the planet are often referred to as the Plumbers of the Zodiac, so this is the time of the year when those plumbing rods need to be sent down into darker, shadowy parts of our psyches to clear out the pipes.   I find it interesting to note how many people are experiencing flu-like/ mucous-filled symptoms right now (fixed water), or water issues in the home – which seem to be difficult to shift.  This new moon seems like the purge we need.

THE SHADOW

Whether we like it or not, we all have parts of ourselves that we don’t like much…  shadow selves – the things we fear, self-doubts, denials, raging emotions.  Very often we are taught to repress the shadow, or are told that it is somehow unacceptable or “un-spiritual”, if there’s even such a thing!

We’re generally encouraged to embrace the light, not the dark!  This New Moon can lead us  through the darker, hidden sides of ourselves and into healing, if we let her.  We really cannot go forward, until we have faced whatever is buried within us and what is holding us back. If we do have the courage to explore beneath the surface, we might find that our  inner conflicts become our greatest strengths. At this time of the year astrologically, we are  urged to heal the unresolved issues about who we really are  (at the deepest level) and what we truly want to be.  This is transformation and life will effectively provide us with ample opportunities to work with it right now.

Some of you might feel a curtain go down at the thought of that. You might even be tempted to stop reading.

But before you leave…this doesn’t mean we have to hang out in the shadows forever or soak ourselves in the stagnant water!  Rather, it’s a call to connect with the wise observer, explore a bit and see what’s hiding there. If you do this, you might find that you bring to light some real jewels. It’s a very powerful time to investigate your dreams (Neptune) or your current life circumstances symbolically  and/or creatively!

HOW DO WE WORK WITH THIS?

There are many ways of doing this, but here’s one – a personal example, which is happening in my life right now:

On the superficial or mundane level, over the past year, with Jupiter (my personal chart ruler) moving through Scorpio, and Saturn opposing my Sun (in Cancer – the sign of the home), I’ve experienced a series of seriously challenging issues regarding my home/property, amongst which have been without doubt, the most awful tenants I’ve ever had.  They have finally left the property (happy dance) and new people have arrived.  All clear?  Nope! – even though I am very eager to clear their stagnant energy and start afresh, there’s now an issue with a boat… yes… a boat!  My delightful ex-tenants decided, in all their infinite wisdom to haul a great big ugly-ass boat down the steepest driveway in Hillcrest and now they can’t get it out!

What do I do with this and why even mention it?  It’s just life right?  Trivial even?   Well yes… but for me, viewing things like this symbolically makes life richer and more rewarding. Even though this is a frustrating life event, which I would dearly like to disappear forever, I decided to work it and drill down to explore it more.  So yesterday, after waking from a rather emotionally unsettling dream, which started stirring the waters to reveal a whole tribe of feelings – ranging from abandonment, fear to insecurity  (emotions emerging from the unconscious), I decided to write it all down in my trusty, ever faithful, non-judgement journal,  a practice which I wholeheartedly recommend.

THE BOAT

Well… there it was… the ugly ass boat came creeping onto the page and when I dug a little more, by asking some very obvious questions, rather a lot was revealed. When working like this, don’t assume you know the answer. Take the time to write it down and let the answer emerge. You can use this process to decode your dreams too.

This was the gist of it.  I  have been, and intend to go, even deeper than this, but I’m sharing the basics with you.

Q: What is a boat? A: It’s a vehicle which transports you though water

Q What is water symbolically  A: For me it represents emotion, often unconscious

Q: Where is the boat? A: It’s stuck on land (out of it’s element) at the bottom of my driveway, in my garden.

And a bit deeper:

Q: What does this tell me?  A:  That there is some “not so pretty”  stuff which needs to be dealt with; possibly some stuck or blocked emotions or fears related to my security,  home (inner and outer) that needs to be shifted. Well… yeah!

Q: What is the solution to the boat?  A: It might be that the boat can’t be taken out all at once (as I would prefer) but may have to be carted out piece by piece!  Or they’re going to have to hire a truck – in other words  – get some assistance.

On  a deeper level, what this reveals to me is that

  1. I may need some help in dealing with shifting my stuckness.
  2. I may have to deal with it bit by bit, and not all at once, even though I want it to be gone now!

So – that’s what I’m doing. The Universe answered the call with an extremely powerful session with a treasured and highly gifted healer friend, during which I experienced rather  a momentous energetic/ emotional shift, which  extended into the even and which I’m still working through.

Once again, the challenges that life present, turn out to be exactly the teachers I need… if I choose to see them like that.

Straight after journaling yesterday,  a post appeared on my timeline by a truly remarkable soul and therapist Matt Licata, who describes this, as well as the current Astrology more fluidly and cohesively than I could ever do, even though he’s not an astrologer.

Emotionally-sensitive, somatically-grounded inner work is unique to each person. We must discover for ourselves the most skillful, effective, and compassionate ways to open and enter into the body, psyche, and heart. No other can reveal the right way for us. The journey is individual and unique by nature, requiring experiential, primary experience; a collective spirituality will never meet the longing within.

It is difficult to tend to the shadow and lost pieces of psyche on our own, and is often best approached via an empathic, attuned relational field, where our experience can be co-regulated and integrated slowly, by way of the relational field itself. To “borrow” another’s soothed, calm nervous system as we enter uncharted territory.

The way of direct revelation is not the easy way. It is not the path of five-steps to empowerment, manifestation, or thinking our way into permanent happiness, abundance, and bliss. While it is natural to want clear methods and direction, it is too wild inside us for all that. It is a humble journey, heart-wrenching at times, as we will inevitably be asked to compassionately tend to the disowned as it surges for reunion.

The goal is not to become dependent upon another in an unhealthy way, but over time to practice the art of self-regulation and be able to shift wisely, skillfully, and compassionately between the two.

Wherever you are on your journey, you can ask a guide to bear witness as you move into unknown territory, honuoring the immensity of the call to wholeness. Find a therapist, lover, mentor, or friend; a tree, a bird, a mountain, or dog; the sky, the sun, the stars, or the mud. A God or Goddess, wise inner figure, or being of light.

Allow your symptoms to merge into these protectors and enter into dialogue, practicing intimacy with the inner material, while simultaneously not fusing with it.

It is unlikely we’ll ever fully understand or resolve the mystery of self and other, separation and union, sun and moon. But we can break open into the questions together, as beginners, as amateurs, and as servants of the mystery.

That kind of says it all, really!

NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

I will be running two more workshops this year and then will be taking a break for December.

I’ll be available for astrology consults for the month of November and then I will be taking a break until January. Please let me know asap if you would like to set up an appointment, as  my November diary is filling up!.

CHANGING PERSPECTIVES  WORKSHOP – 17 NOVEMBER

Jupiter’s move into Sagittarius urges us to see things from a different perspective – turn things upside down, shake them up a bit and see what emerges. I  experience this SO  often in my own art and whilst facilitating Intuitive Art Workshops and private sessions.

When we make art from the inside out,  we allow whatever is there, to bubble up to the surface. Then we take a step back…look at the painting  from a different position…turn it upside down a few times. And suddenly… there it is…an image…. an idea…. a light goes on!  We see something for the first time. It speaks to us. There’s an inner heart knowing that we will never be able to see ” it”the same way again.

There is a permanent shift in our perspective.. from the inside!. We’ll be exploring the theme artistically in my workshop on 17th November. Let’s see what arises!  Email me for details

THE ART OF COMPLETION – 18 NOVEMBER

As we hurtle towards the end of the year, I have decided to offer a Completion Day workshop.

  • You might want to attend Saturday and Sunday (R100 off if you do) and use the second day to deepen and fine tune your Perspectives artwork.
  • Or you might choose to do a Completion Collage, reflecting back on the year.
  • Or you are welcome to finish a piece of art you have started during the year, but not got around to finishing.

That  kind of says it all and to finish off the blog, I’m sharing one of my favourite poems by David Whyte – Everything is Waiting for you.

New Moon September 9th – Bringing in the New

flowers

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Robert Frost

I recently spent some special time in the Cape and had the incredible opportunity of hanging out with the wild flowers on the West Coast, something that’s been on my bucket list forever. I felt as if I had been dropped onto a magic carpet of  diverse new life, joy and abundance! Mother  Nature really does teach us everything we need to know, if we take time to immerse ourselves in her bounty.

 SPRINGING INTO LIFE

Saturn finally moves direct on the 6th September, after a long and rather arduous retrograde period, which, along with all the other retrograde energy of late,  has been challenging for  many of us. Here’s hoping that from the New Moon on 9th September, things  will start to move forward in a positive way,  as we officially welcome spring, the bringer of new beginnings.

The season of flowers always coincides with the Sun’s annual journey  through Virgo (in the Southern Hemisphere) the sign  associated with separating the wheat from the chaff.   No other sign is stronger when it comes to differentiating and discerning – between what is healthy and unhealthy; useful and pointless; valuable and damaging. It’s this sign that focuses on protecting and preserving our individual bodies and planet earth and on analyzing, strategising and putting in place, systems and routines to serve them.

NEW MOON  SEPTEMBER 9 IN VIRGO

This new moon in Virgo is in an exact opposition to the planet Neptune in gentle Pisces, which creates somewhat of a paradox.  On one hand we feel the need to put systems in place, make order out of chaos, analyse, strategise and perfect –  an on the other, we feel led to surrender, trust and flow.

Virgo and Pisces are both signs concerned with healing and completion, perfection and improvement, so it’s about finding a balance between our physical world and our spiritual connection – how we can bring spirit into matter and matter into spirit.

With 6 planets in earth signs right now, we’re being provided with a strong feminine flourish of healing and feeling – with a dollop of earthy Virgo practicality stirred into the mix.

 CLEARING THE WAY

One of the best ways of working with the energy of a Virgo New Moon is to take some time to discern what you want to let go of and what you’d like to keep in your life;  what’s healthy and what’s not; what’s useful and what’s done it’s time; what is serving you and what is not.

It’s an excellent time to detox, purge or de-clutter your physical word –  home, work space and body,  to make space for the  new.  With Virgo ruling Mercury the planet of the mind, this time is also about becoming more aware of the mind/ body /soul connection.  This is a month where we can more easily observe how are thought patterns, emotions and  habitual reactions are connected and practically start to shift those that aren’t serving us.

 BRINGING IN THE NEW

As the moon waxes between the 9th and 23rd, it’s an excellent time to put  new physical, mental, spiritual habits and routines into place. With all the earth energy around, this is a really good time to introduce practical change in our lives.

Habits are sets of automatic unconscious thoughts, emotions and behaviours that are acquired through repetition . Do something (positive or negative)  for long enough and it becomes hard wired.

So, making one small change in our routine or replacing one negative thought with a positive one, really can and does shift everything.  Simply starting your day with some quiet time and a few positive affirmations can work wonders to shift old patterns.

This is an excellent video by Joe Dispenso, who is an expert on this subject.

Ask yourself this new moon:

  •  What can you clear out, to make room for the new  body/physical spaces/ mind?
  • What in your life is ready to spring into being?
  • What new physical, mental, spiritual habits and routines  can you put into place and commit to for 21 days?
