Solar Eclipse 13 July- Riding the Wave

raging sea

Have any of you been feeling some rather intense energy over the last few days …particularly around family, security, home, mothering, roots?  Well…  its not really surprising, as we prepare for the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer in the early hours of Friday morning 13 July (in South Africa).

It’s always emotionally intense  when both the sun and the moon are in the watery, sensitive  sign of the crab, but this one takes it up a good few notches.

When we have a solar eclipse, the sun is overwhelmed by the moon.  In other words the feminine vanquishes the masculine. The light disappears and we are pulled into the darkness for a while.

This can feel scary at first, but when we stay there for a while, our eyes start to readjust and we start to see things differently. When the obvious colours and details are not available, we start to look at things in a deeper way. That is what is asked of us now.

DEEP SEA DIVING

This New Moon eclipse forms an exact opposition to Pluto, the king of the underworld, modern ruler of Scorpio.  Pluto is the plumber of the zodiac, beckoning us beneath the surface, so that we might process any debris that might be sitting there, or, to be blunt,  clear out the sewer. Not a particularly pleasant thing to do, but quite necessary every now and then to avoid even more, serious blockages in the future.

Suffice to say, emotions that are coming up right now might not be comfortable at all, especially for those who have a lot of fire/ air in their charts, who prefer to keep things light and positive!

Amongst myself and my closest friends, here are some examples of what is and has been arising over the past week. Issues around home/security/ finances/;    illness to do with fluids (pneumonia);  flooding of houses; old emotional issues coming to the surface;  leaking roofs,  a feeling of general down-ness or off-ness for no seeming reason; big emotions around parenting/  family issues and responsibilities; feeling sick to the stomach; feeling lost at sea, having lost sight of the shore; vivid disturbing dreams.

So – what do we do?

Well, those troublesome, irritating feelings or general dis-ease,  “off-ness” or “not-so-goodness”, are just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath, if we do some deep sea diving, we may discover beauties like anger, sadness, grief, rage or fear, which are desperately trying to get our attention. And… as usual, we have the choice to feel them or to beat them into submission… guess which one works better?

HONOUR YOUR FEELINGS

The good news is that if we are prepared to honour the feelings that come up, we have a very supportive, very powerful Grand Water Trine, formed by Sun/Moon, Jupiter and Neptune, which can help us to bring understanding to or clear some debris, so that we can move forward, lighter and less encumbered. Jupiter in Scorpio (more water)  has just moved direct after 4 months of being retrograde. With Jupiter being a beneficial planet, this can be seen as a positive thing – much like a giant pressure hose, coming in to clear away all the sticky stuff, if we choose to allow it to do so.

If however, we elect to repress or medicate or numb the emotions that are coming up, they will simply join the others  lurking in the sewer,  until the next time.

If  there was ever a time to ride the wave of emotion, this is it. Many of us are feeling the angst and suffering of Mother Earth and humanity right now, in addition to our own.  Consider this… what if, each time we  feel a feeling, without  censorship or guilt, we help to transmute it, perhaps not only for ourselves, but for mankind and Mother Earth too?

RADICAL SELF CARE

I see this as a time of radical self care. If you feel insecure, needy, inadequate, sad or full of rage, sit with it for a few moments and breathe into it…  or express it in some way… dance it, sing it, paint it, write a poem about it, journal it –   if it’s anger, hitting a pillow really helps.  Then ask yourself how best you can show up, nourish and nurture yourself.  Maybe that means  cooking yourself a warm nourishing meal, sitting next to a fire, or perhaps connecting with the people who love you, taking a nap, or having a hot bath.  What would you advise your best friend, lover or child to do if they were in distress?

…Do that for yourself!

Every single time we abandon or berate ourselves, we deplete our energetic  and emotional tanks. Every time we value and love ourselves, we fill them up. All our tanks need regular cleaning and refilling and this is the time to do it. The fuller our individual tanks are, the more love we have to give.

SOME TOOLS TO HELP YOU RIDE THE WAVE

You might want to try Emotional Freedom Technique. Try it – it’s really simple and sure  does work. Whilst tapping certain points, you acknowledge what you are feeling (out loud preferably EG “Even though I am feeling …. X, Y Z, I deeply love and approve of myself”

Other tools that could help would be grounding – spending time outside with no shoes,  walking, spending time in nature, meditating, deep breathing, or visiting a hypnotherapist, trusted energy worker or psychologist. Just as we feed ourselves nutritional food,  and exercise our physical bodies, our emotional bodies and energetic bodies also need regular nourishment and tune ups!

Eclipses always happen in sets and have much longer lasting effects than normal new and full moons. This one marks the start of the Cancer/ Capricorn eclipse season, which will last until 2020, so there’s lots of time to work with these themes . The last time we had an eclipse at the same degree was 11 July 2010, so you might find that there are similar themes that are coming up.

SET THOSE NEW INTENTIONS

This solar eclipse is also an excellent time to set new intentions. Wherever 20 degrees of Cancer/ Capricorn lies in your chart will usually be where this is most pressing.

If you’d like to plumb further into this, you might consider setting up an Eclipse Reading, where we can explore how and where this is going to be working with you personally over the next few years.

Lifelight Astrology June 2014 – by Michelle McClunan

in silence

By Michelle McClunan

Take a   l  o  n g   d e e e e p   breath. .. drop those shoulders…. E x h a l e  …. Connect with yourself right now in this moment.  Listen… What are you feeling? …. Where are you feeling it in your body? … What are the stories that are going on in your mind….Notice them… Breathe. ..

That …right there is the theme for June as I see it.

With the Sun currently in Gemini, the focus is on communication and this is usually a social, light, intellectual, airy, chatty, busy time of the year, but this one’s a little different to most.

The New Moon in Gemini on the 28th May  set the scene for a much  more gentle, intuitive, creative, sensitive and quieter June than usual. There’s basically a lot more water around, with a square to Neptune, Mercury (the mind)  moving into heart based Cancer and a beautiful grand water trine between Saturn, Jupiter and Chiron.

“When flowing water … meets with obstacles on its path, a blockage in its journey, it pauses. It increases in volume and strength, filling up in front of the obstacle and eventually spilling past it.  Do not turn and run, for there is nowhere worthwhile for you to go. Do not attempt to push ahead into the danger … emulate the example of the water: Pause and build up your strength until the obstacle no longer represents a blockage.” Marsha Sinetar (sent to me By Antoinette McInnes)

All in all, this is potentially a deeply intuitive, creative, profoundly healing time, IF we take time out to stop and listen.

With Mercury turning retrograde on the 8th June in Cancer, we need to remember that if we operate from the level of the rational mind alone, we’re in for possible confusion, delusion and misunderstandings.

This isn’t the best time to make life changing decisions, but if you do need to, try this:

Stop, be quiet, ask for guidance and  bring to mind each alternative one by one. Then tune in with which one feels expansive and which one feels limiting… in your body. The one that makes you feel expansive is very likely to be the right decision.

The more we’re able to go into silence, even for a few minutes at a time and listen to our inner compass, which resides in our hearts, the more we tune in with our truth. It really is that simple.

Gemini is all about communication and learning, how we speak and how we listen.  And the focus this month is on inward communication rather than outer.

When you recognize that there is a voice in your head that pretends to be you and never stops speaking, you are awakening out of your unconscious identification with the stream of thinking. When you notice that voice, you realize that who you are is not the voice (the thinker) but the one who is ‘aware’ of it. Knowing yourself as the awareness behind the voice is freedom. ~ Eckhart Tolle ~

See if you can cut out the noise at  intervals during your day. Turn the cell phone off, take time away from any electronic gadgetry, make some tea and walk outside or spend some time breathing and listening to your inner dialogue. You don’t need to be sitting cross-legged on a cushion to do this, although that’s fine too J

Really in my experience it’s about taking precious moments to check in with yourself. Let the thoughts just drift in and out of your awareness, taking note of their quality and the feelings they evoke in you. Become aware of the manner in which you speak to yourself, perhaps even judge and criticise yourself and ask whether you would speak to anyone else like that. Simply listening,  without judgement… just interested curiosity.

Listen too to the words you use when you’re speaking to someone else and how often you repeat the same mantra’s. “ I’ve got no money, I’m scared, I’m insecure, this is not working, I’m irritated, I’ve had enough, I’m sick and tired”  These thoughts and words are literally creating our reality and only when we take time to notice them can we choose different ones.

One of the greatest gifts I think we can give ourselves and others is that of listening It’s the most incredible thing actually. Try this. When someone you know is worried or stuck or fearful or confused, just listen intently to what they are saying for 5 minutes or so without interrupting.. In my experience, the answers start to drift into up into the speaker’s consciousness, completely… without your help. The same applies if we listen to ourselves.

What are the stories you tell yourself about your life and your future and are they true?  Will you always be stuck in the place you’re in now? Will you always be overweight, sad, unwell, alone, broke? How do you know that any of that is  true?

What if you allowed yourself to imagine a life that was everything you dreamed of… and then visualised it often?

In every moment that we connect with what we love and feel good, we are re-wiring our brains, lifting our vibrations and changing what we attract into our lives.

To help us along with this, Venus, the planet of love, beauty and value, has also just moved into her own sign of Taurus. Yay!  Her home visit will help us to get in touch with the false beliefs that run our lives from behind the scenes and assist us in  realigning  us with the truth of who we are. This will happen mainly when we’re in a relaxed state and fully engaged in things we love to do.

Keep a record of your dreams this month, as well as important conversations and meetings with others and be open and awake to any “aha’s” dropping into your consciousness seemingly from “no-where”

Ideas and answers always appear when we’re not pushing and shoving. They flow in when we stop the incessant barrage of information and busyness. Just yesterday I found myself labouring over some creative writing and strategising I was doing to the point that  I was going around in square circles. For once, I listened to my own advice and went for a walk. No sooner had I walked out of my driveway than the ideas started flowing in, effortlessly… it was like a tap had been opened. When I got home, I sat down at the computer and the words and ideas just poured out. Eureka!

But what about when we have nagging thoughts and worries that just won’t go away?

I read a really interesting article the other day on the “ironic monitoring process”, where research studies have shown that our brains actually search for whatever thought or emotion we are trying to suppress.

In a series of experiments, a group of participants were told not to think of a white bear while they performed other tasks. A second group was instructed to think of white bears and then not to think of them. Interestingly, the first group, which tried to keep the white bear at bay, thought about them more than once a minute! The second group thought about them more when they were trying to suppress white-bear thoughts than when they were told to think about them.

Basically when we try to suppress an intrusive uncomfortable thought or feeling it’s as good as putting out a welcome sign for it.

The article suggested and I find that it helps to rather invite the worrying or disturbing thought in, making it intentional. Say it out loud, write it down or talk to someone about it. Then, if you think there is something you can practically do about it, set 5 to 15 minutes where you commit to focussing on it  (or really worrying about it if you like).  I find that when I notice the thought or feeling rather than suppress it, it relaxes its hold on me and often disappears completely or a solution arises easily and effortlessly when I’m least expecting it.

The more work I do with myself and clients, the more I realise that this human experience is  really about being fully present to what’s going on right now – whatever it is, … to feel into it, to dialogue with it with compassion and  from there to move forward.

If you are stuck in any area of your life, this is a potent time astrologically to get to the bottom of what patterns or behaviours might be holding you back. If you would like to investigate working with me to help you to Navigate your life, you can read more about the life coaching here.

The first step on our adventure together is usually a comprehensive astrology reading, which is often followed by an agreed number of personal navigational coaching sessions, to put you back on course. These include Process Art, Neurolinguistic programming, Energy work and more.

Drop me a line if you’d like to discuss the options michellemcclunan@gmail.com

I still have a couple of places left on the Build a new Truth Highway workshop on the 7th June and one on the 21st June. In this one day workshop, using a combination of group work, visualisation, journaling, muscle testing, Neurolinguistic programming, Astrology and Process Art, we will excavate old neural pathways that no longer serve us and start building a new diamond studded truth highway. See below or email me for more details

So… all you beauties, this month, give yourself permission to slow down, appreciate and cultivate beauty, stop whenever you have a good moment and anchor the sensations into your being. Let yourself imagine the most beautiful future possible for yourself and take yourself to that place as often as you can. Above all, connect to your heart and listen to what it has to say.

Lifelight Astrology May 2014

May 2014Congratulations –  if you’re reading this, you’ve just about made it through April, which ends with a Solar Eclipse in Taurus today, the 29th.  Every time we have a new moon, the Sun (masculine) and the Moon (feminine) come together at the same degree of the zodiac, birthing a new cycle.

At a Solar Eclipse, this union is so exact that the Moon’s shadow blocks the light of the Sun from our perspective, making it even more potent. With the moon being in Mother Earthy Taurus, I see this as a clear sign that this is a time to re-set our relationship to the Feminine, to our values, our priorities and to the material world… to get real basically.

The eclipse certainly sets the tone for the month of May and with the Grand Cross starting to back off a bit, hopefully the dust will start to settle a little and we’ll begin to ground more.

From my own experience and through speaking to lots of people, the way I would describe the energy of the past month or so has been like being adrift on a small boat in the middle of a rather turbulent sea. There we were,  sailing merrily going along on the surface, soaking in the sun, when suddenly out of the wild blue yonder, we got smacked by an unseen something, unceremoniously dumped off our little crafts and tumbled around as if in a washing machine. With zero visibility, our only option was to hang on and surrender, until it cleared enough for us to see which way was up. Eventually, coughing and spluttering, we emerged, shell-shocked and a tad bedraggled, accompanied by some of our deeply buried flotsam and jetsam, which had been shaken loose and joined us on the surface.

It feels to me as if we’re at  this point now, where we’re able to grab hold some of the debri (the old boat is history) and make our way to a small protected bay.  Once safe in her embrace, we give gratitude to our precious life giving Mother earth and rejoice in the  beautiful warm sand, fragrant smells, visual beauty, natural sounds and delisicous tastes. We connect to her endlessly abundant  life-giving power and start to consciously and maturely sort through the debris that’s been unearthed to find the lessons and the treasures that have shown themselves in our lives.

For most people I know, at least one thing has come to a head over the past month or so. Whatever had been lurking beneath the surface, unacknowledged, repressed or exiled, has popped up in one form or another –  either in relationship issues, misunderstandings,  loss of loved ones, health concerns or financial challenges. On the physical side alone, I can’t tell you how many people I know personally who have had mysterious illnesses or physical symptoms suddenly appearing, seemingly from out of nowhere. For many of us it’s been a hefty wake-up call as to where our lives have been out of balance, where we’re not being authentic, where we’re undervaluing or under-nurturing ourselves.

The way I see it, we can no longer hide – its time to get real.

Whatever learnings have emerged  for us are treasures, the diamonds in the rough, the knowledge that will lead us into a new cycle. This is the time to integrate the lessons and actively commit to moving forward in a positive, healthy way – emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically.

What has drifted up to the surface for you?  What core beliefs have you had about yourself and the  world that aren’t serving you? What can you let go of? How can you value yourself and your planet more? How can you be more real, more authentic?

I loved this passage from “Love it Forward” by Jeff Brown. “ I am not interested in enlightenment if it means detachment from the emotional body, the earth plane, the challenges of being human. I am interested in “enrealment”, because it means that my most spiritual moments are inclusive, arising right in the heart of all that is human: joy and sorrow, shopping list and unity consciousness, fresh mangos and stale bread. Enrealment is about living in all aspects of reality simultaneously rather than only those realms that feel the most comfortable. We are not just the light, or the mind, or the emptiness, or perpetual positivity. We are the everything. It’s ALL God, even the dust that falls off my awakening heart.

The beautiful water trine that has formed in the heavens is providing even more feminine energy and insight and should hopefully ease the hectic energy of the grand cross, allowing us to gain real insight into our hearts desires, provided we  connect, soften and forgive.

During my Sankulpa (Iinspired Intention) workshop this past weekend, an amazing group of souls showed up and did just that. Through “losing the rational mind” for a while, they were able to connect to the deeper part of themselves that knows the higher truth, that is their essence. Through meditation, art and dialogue, each person walked away with a tangible (Taurean) truth which will serve as a guiding light as they move forward – a seed of pure intention.

I’ve been asked to repeat the workshop on the 17th May and its filling up really quickly, so let me know as soon as possible if you’d like to join us. Contact me for details.

Taurus is all about commitment and value, so the theme of finding out what we really do value and committing to it in a very real way is the theme for this whole month. We can do this every day, by stopping and really feeling into the special, beautiful, often simple moments that endlessly present themselves to us.  Instead of moving quickly on by when you have a good moment,  pause, listen, see, hear, feel and taste it  with your whole being.  Every time we do this, we start to re-programme our brains, literally hardwiring ourselves for happiness.

In realment

Love
