FULL MOON TAURUS 4th NOVEMBER

Saturday’s  Full moon in Taurus provides a sexy, sensual, earthy container for the intense, penetrating and potentially challenging Scorpio energy of  the moment. With Jupiter being in Scorpio for a whole year, we’re really being urged by the God of the Skies to go deeper, in order to reach our next level of expansion and growth.  See my video where I discussed this a while back.

There’s also a magical, mystical romantic flavour to this full moon which is provided by positive flowing aspects to Neptune, King of the Ocean. This could bring  important soul connections, love matches or help us to take our relationships to a deeper level.  Why not plan a beautiful, sensual ritual for Saturday, with your nearest and dearests this weekend?

THE MERMAID BECKONS

This combined energy reminds me of an alluring mermaid sunning herself on a rock, beckoning us to leave the shallows for a while and follow her into her watery underworld. The mermaid has always been a strong, evocative archetype for all of us (men and women). She  represents the part of us who is wild, free, intuitive and feminine, equipped to navigate both earthly and watery realms.

The picture I’ve used in this post was painted by my friend Toni D’Amant at my last workshop and  exquisitely  depicts the integration and personal power that can be achieved when we embrace both realms.

THE ELEMENT OF WATER

In Astrology, water is  associated with our feelings and planetary activity of the moment provides us with a real opportunity to consider how we are navigating them.

Although it’s perfectly normal to have feelings running through us, many of us have been told that something is vastly amiss when we’re sad, angry, listless, or scared, or when we’re firing on anything less than all cylinders. Many of us have been told repeatedly that we are too sensitive, too soft and that showing our feelings is weak and pathetic.  So, when tricky emotions threaten to surface, we often drown them out via various addictions, occupy ourselves with continual busyness or deny them completely, in the hope that they will just go away. But, they don’t –  whatever we resist really does persist. They will resurface at some point. The dam wall will eventually break.

I find it interesting that western horoscope astrology focuses only on the Sun sign (the active, masculine, outward achieving parts of ourselves) and doesn’t even consider the moon (the feminine part of  us which  connects us with our feelings and our intuition).  When I do a chart, I pay equal attention to both!  Ignoring our feelings is much like chucking our navigational equipment overboard when at sea.

Very often, when I am working with a client, I’ll ask how they process or navigate their emotions. I cannot tell you how often people just stare back at me blankly. I know the feeling. We all do.

We have simply not been given the tools to process our inner waters, which is often mirrored in our relationship with the water in our external world.

This has really been highlighted for me this week by staying in Cape Town, which as you may know, is in the midst of a truly terrible drought and is rapidly running out of water.  Like anything, when something is in short supply or is disappearing, we start to value and appreciate it more. Those who understand the severity of the problem here treat each drop with the utmost care, re-using it wherever possible, wasting as little as possible.

What if we were to nurture our internal waters and feelings in the same way? What if we could acknowledge their preciousness, care for them with compassion and gentleness, find ways of channelling them, rather than pushing them under the surface, denying them or damming the up.

When we visit the deeper waters of our souls from time to time (we don’t need to hang out there permanently) we are usually able to connect with that which we know to be right for us, that which is true and real.

The concern  for many of us is that if we visit the watery underworld, we might never emerge again, that somehow we might get stuck there. This really isn’t my experience. When we find ways to consciously allow our feelings to flow through us, they pass more quickly. When we repress them, they stick around for longer, become stagnant and cause all sorts of issues.

CONNECT WITH YOUR INNER WATERS

At this full moon and over  the next two weeks,  see if you can allow your inner mermaid  to lead the way, beyond the busy, rational, “doing” part of you.

  • On a daily basis, take a few moments to check in with yourself
  • Sit quietly, connect with your 5 senses
  • Notice what you feel in your body
  • Ask how your water is doing:
    • Do you feel that you are drowning in emotion -overwhelmed? – if so, perhaps your water needs to be channelled through some sort of expressive activity.  This could be through talking, journaling, painting, sculpting, dancing, singing, cooking, baking etc . Being outside exercising can evaporate some water, leaving you clearer and lighter.            .
    • Maybe it feels as though your water is moving too fast – your emotions running too quickly. Perhaps they need to be contained – you might just slow down, pause, acknowledge the feelings, without needing to name them.
    • Are you dry or parched – You might need more nourishment, more kindness, more nurturing. Maybe you need to immerse yourself in water, or drink more water, or take some time out
    • Are you feeling stagnant and stuck? Perhaps you need to introduce some movement or more flow into your life. Consider how you might be able to bring more flexibility into your life, or soften into the present moment more often.

“Water is yielding, but all conquering. Water extinguishes fire, or, finding itself likely to, be defeated, escapes as sea and reforms. Water washes away soft earth, or, when confronted by rocks, seeks a way around. It saturates the atmosphere, so that wind dies. Water gives way to obstacles with deceptive humility, for no power can prevent it following its destined course to the sea. Water conquers by yielding, it never attaches, but always wins the last battle.

Full Moon – Grounding and Gratitude

Sunday’s Full moon in Taurus brings some much needed gentle grounding to the group of planets that are still taking up residence in intense, penetrating, and potentially challenging Scorpio.

This week, the  relationship theme continues (with ourselves and others), as we dive deeper into the watery depths of our souls, to retrieve whatever we’ve been ignoring and bring it up to the surface. This is a hugely powerful time to fix what needs to be fixed, but it can seem somewhat overwhelming (especially for air and fire signs and those lacking water in their charts).

In our physical reality on earth, we catch water in dams and tanks and then build pipes and canals to carry it to wherever it needs to go. Personally we also need to channel this intense emotional energy (water) that we may be feeling, so that it nurtures us and helps  to create positive change.  Now’s the time to construct some internal plumbing systems for ourselves.

Taurus is all about the senses, mother nature, beauty, art, food, and what is truly valuable to us. Ask yourself this full moon what it is that grounds you, makes you feel more secure, more connected, more nurtured, more balanced. Whatever that is, that’s your earthing, your channel, your medicine, so you need to take it. Don’t put it off… If it’s walking… walk, if it’s cooking….cook; if it’s making art…make art…you get the drift 🙂

In addition to that, this  week, before you start your busy day, try standing outside for a few moments… take a few deep breaths, connect with the earth, connect with the sky, connect with yourself. And then take mini pauses throughout the day. When you pour yourself a cup of tea (this works for me), put your cell phone down, walk outside, or sit down and for a few minutes, breathe, look at the beauty around you, sip and just “be”.

The earthy Venusian energy that we have access to right now can really help us commit to doing what we really want to do and to make things happen in an enduring mature way. Focus this week on what is truly valuable to you, as well as on your personal resources, other than money – your unique set of skills, your friends, home, talents and the hundreds of things each day that there are to be grateful for.

On my Facebook community page (check it out here) we’ve just completed 26 days of Gratitude (A to Z). Thanks to all who participated – it was such fun! Its a remarkable practice actually. We can only have one vibration at a time, so when we’re noticing what we’re thankful for, we aren’t mulling over what’s not working. It’s as simple as writing down what you’re grateful for every day… it takes only a couple of moments, but is potentially life changing, not to mention grounding.  “Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more” Melody Hill 

Did you know that gratitude, appreciation and love are the highest vibrations? By simply expressing our gratitude, we raise our vibration and those of the people around us.
