LIFELIGHT ASTROLOGY 3 AUGUST 2017

THE ECLIPSE SEASON HAS ARRIVED!

lightning moon

We are now fully entering eclipse season, with a lunar eclipse or FULL moon on  7th August in Aquarius. This will be followed by a solar eclipse on the 21st August, which I’ll write more about next time.

Let’s look at this one first. As we all know, full moon energy is always powerful, but eclipses are  even more so, as they happen in sets and have longer lasting effects.

This eclipse season relates back to August 1998, so reflect back on what was happening for you then. Chances are, there will be common themes at play!.

The ruler of this eclipse is Uranus, bringer of thunderbolts and lightening,  designed to get us to remove our heads from our  butts… stop… look around and see the bigger picture.

With Mars right next to the sun, we are provided with some extra vooma, to clean out any cobwebs and boot us out of any comfort zones we may have become ensconced in. The thing about comfort zones, is that they usually aren’t all that comfortable!! They’re just familiar and tend to keep us exactly where we are, doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results – the definition of insanity, according to Mr Einstein.

SO, If you want something different in your life, what are you prepared to change?

This moon full moon will shine her light on anything in our lives which makes us feel small,  constricted or boxed in, bringing the rebel, the revolutionary, the quirky one out of the closet. She will also bring with her, brilliant out-the-box, intuitive ideas, for those of us who take some time to listen.  It’s a stimulating moon, encouraging us to look deeper, shining a bright blue laser truth serum into those dark rutty corners and ferreting out all the lies we’ve been telling ourselves, for… oh… so long. Also paraded in the line-up will be the parts of ourselves and areas of our lives where we keep breaking promises to ourselves.

You know… those things that we consistently moan about, tell ourselves we’re going to change…. And then do absolutely nothing about?  Well, they are being ousted – exposed in the bare light of this full moon, with nowhere to hide.

And there – right there, just as soon as they are exposed, we need to take ourselves gently by the hand and ask why – why when we know something isn’t good for us, do we do it?  Or, when we know something is good for us, why don’t we do it?

Saturn is forming positive flowing aspects to this full moon, helping us to see exactly how we sabotage ourselves and how often we are our own worst enemies.

The truth is, if we really, truly believed we were valuable, wouldn’t we treat ourselves as such?

It all starts there really!

This full moon, ask yourself what ONE THING you can do to bring about change in your life.

On the day of the eclipse, sit quietly and write a list of whatever  you really, really, really want to let of for once and for all, the sabotaging patterns you want to send hurtling into the ethers, the habits that no longer serve you.  And then put the date on the page and sign it.

Go outside if you can and start to burn the paper. As you do so, make a statement something like this  “I release this……. Now”.  Once it has turned to ash, blow the ashes away into the light of the moon.

Mercury will be turning retrograde on 13th August, so back all your data, check travel arrangements and contracts before you sign them.

See you in  a few weeks for the great big SOLAR ECLIPSE

Lifelight Astrology Update 21 July

pexels-photo-207997BRAVE HEART

There’s some exciting Astrological weather ahead, with the Eclipse Season approaching, ushered in by a New Moon in Leo, the first of two in the same sign!

Two weeks ago, I wrote about the Phoenix Process, which is undoubtedly still in play.  Without going into the details, I for one, have definitely been through the fire and although the flames have subsided a little, there’s still a whole lot of heat around and ahead of us –  more like burning embers than a raging inferno,  but fire and heat nonetheless.

fire lion

Yesterday, Mars emerged from the deep waters of Cancer, after a 6 week sojourn,  during which, a whole lot of emotion was churned up. He has now just entered Leo, the brave-hearted Lion King, where he’ll be brandishing his fiery sword for the next  6 weeks.

On Sunday 23rd July,  the warrior planet will be joined by the Sun and the Moon, presenting us with a New Moon in Leo.    This  sets things in motion for the  eclipse season ( Lunar eclipse on the 17th August and a Total Solar Eclipse (new moon in Leo) on the 21st  August. As the  second New moon is also in Leo,  some astrologers refer to it as a black moon. This is all particularly  relevant for people who have personal planets in Leo and Aquarius!

The first new moon in Leo ushers in what feels to me energetically like a holding pattern, a bed of embers stretching before us, beckoning us to walk through them and burn away anything that is still preventing  us from expressing ourselves in all our glory.  With the Sun, Moon and Mars all being in a square to Uranus, this is a crucial trigger point to start clearing a pathway to a new cycle of courage, self love, growth,  fulfillment and happiness.   But, as we know by now, the good things don’t generally come without testing some comfort zones.

Some years back, I attended a fire walking ceremony.  At first, I refused  to participate, shrinking back,  unwilling to take the risk. But after a while I managed to  muster up some courage and go for it.  Encouraged by the supportive group  around me, all I had to do was hold a positive intention, commit to the process and  keep moving – not running – but walking… across red hot coals! As soon as I hesitated or doubted, I would feel the heat rising through my feet more intensely. However, when I shifted my mind back to the positive intention, trusted and moved forward in a committed way, I felt nothing at all…amazingly  There certainly was a huge feeling of elation when we got to the other side with our feet and our dignities intact.

As we walk through the fiery embers of the next few weeks,  it’s possible that we’ll come face to face with our shadow, with self doubt, lack of trust and possibly some  pretty volatile feelings or situations. If we are able to just be present with the emotions that arise (keep moving through the fire) ,without rejecting or projecting them, there is very real potential to burn away whatever isn’t serving us and open the door to more inspiration, expansion and liberation.

The energy of the next astrological month is all about  living whole heartedly and any of the rage or rebellion we feel at the moment, is very likely to be triggered by a feeling that we are not.

I went to see an incredible movie at the Durban Film Festival the other night, called “The Most Beautiful Day”, where two men (complete strangers) are told that they are hurtling towards death’s door. Rather than wait for it to arrive, they decide to throw caution to the wind and find their Most Beautiful Day, before they die. Its poignant, funny and well worth the watch.  But more than that, there were a few things that really stood out for me. Being given a death sentence actually liberated these men, as it does for many people in the same position. Knowing that they weren’t going to be around for long, gave them the “permission” to go out, break the rules and fully embrace the time they did have left.

They stopped waiting for things to come to them and went out to get them!

This is the only life any of us will ever have in this form!

Are you living your life, with all your might… or are you just existing….waiting ….?  Waiting for the right person to appear, waiting for more money, a better house,  more security, the right occasion to get that beautiful crockery out, light that beautiful candle,  wear that sexy lingerie? Are you waiting until your house looks good enough to entertain your friends, or until you have enough time to go for a walk on the beach, talk with a friend, learn how to play the guitar or go on that trip you’ve always wanted to go on? Are you waiting for somebody to complete you or tell you that they approve of you  enough for you to embrace all that you actually are?

  • If you were given 1 month or 6 months to live, how would you spend it… really?
  • Are you doing any of those things regularly?
  • If not, what are you waiting for?
  • How do you  really feel about yourself and your life?
  • What  makes you happy, opens your heart, makes it race with excitement or fills it up with love?
  • What is it that’s stopping you from doing more of this?
  • What are you afraid of? – THIS is a key question, because that’s what needs to be burnt in the fire?
  • What would you do differently, if you had nothing left to lose?

I’ll be sharing some insights on this theme on FACEBOOK over the next month. Please join in the conversation!

In My Tapestry of Life Workshops, we explore this theme more fully.

TAPESTRY OF LIFE WORKSHOPS

In addition to running the two part Tapestry of  Life Workshop in July and August ( on two different days) in Durban, I’m delighted to be running it as a two day workshop in Johannesburg (September) and Cape Town (October.

The workshops are designed to help you to navigate your way to your true Soular Power.

SOLAR RETURN

Each year, the sun returns to the same position it was on the day you were born. This is called your Solar Return, which is why we wish people Many happy Returns on their birthday. After you’ve had your natal chart done, its a good idea to have an update once a year. This is a stand alone chart, which gives you a weather report for the year ahead. Referring to this during the year, will help you to stay on track with your Soular Power.  We will also look at transits and progressions to your  Natal Chart, which remains your fundamental Astrological blueprint.

LIFELIGHT ASTROLOGY UPDATE – 23rd JUNE

new moon cancerCome Home to your Heart

As the Sun and Mercury move into Cancer on Wednesday 21st June, followed by the moon on Saturday (full  moon), they forecast some internally watery times ahead… but before you roll your eyes heavenward and click to the next email or post, this is a good thing! Remember, nothing can survive without the nurturing properties of water.

As the focus shifts from Gemini to Cancer, we move from the head to the heart, from the rational mind to the  emotions, from external environments to the home, from  being busy busy busy, to  nurturing ourselves at the deepest level and to acknowledging and honouring our history and our roots.

woman washing

When I was contemplating this theme this morning, I felt led to pull a card out of my home-made deck of Soul Oracle cards and this one presented itself.

The meaning will be different for all of us, but in this context, for me , the guidance and confirmation is clear. We need to stand in the water/ in our feelings, engage with them with love and compassion…. One  by one… little by little, basin by basin.

If we do this regularly, we prevent those tidal waves of emotion coming at us and threatening to take the earth out from beneath our feet.  When we engage with our feelings quietly, gently, kindly, as they arise, we honour them and in so doing, we honour ourselves and connect with our true home, our heart.

When we do this, we heal not only the present, but the past as well.

These cards really fascinate me! I’d love to know what your take on this one is – Please share under this post on Facebook .

I still have space on my last ART OF LISTENING –  Oracle Card workshop of the year this coming Saturday, if you’d like to learn how to dialogue with your Soul’s guidance in this way (Scroll down to the bottom of the page)

With the deep feelings that are likely to be stirred up over the next month, we’re being encouraged to  become loving mothers to ourselves by truly honouring them.

We’re also being prompted to revisit the past, not so as  to dwell there, but  so as to bring understanding to it.

Speaking of the past,  If  you were given the opportunity of going back  and changing something in your life, what would it be?

Think about that for a few seconds before you read on.

Whatever you come up with will probably provide a clue as to what might be in need of healing and nurturing in your life. That might need be exactly what needs to be washed and rinsed again a few times, so as to provide clarity and understanding?

Now ask yourself this… if you did change that one thing, where would you be and who would you be right now?

Every single thing that happens to us, every choice we make (from the most mundane to the utterly profound) is interwoven into a universal tapestry containing threads of everybody’s lives we come into contact with us. We all have a profound impact on each other’s lives, whether we are aware of it at the time or not.

TAPESTRY 2 PICS.jpg

Have you ever considered, that if you had to go back and change one single thing in your life, everything would be different. Your home, your friends, the work you do, the children you have, the place you’re at in your personal development and the list goes on.

Changing one event would be like pulling an important thread out of the tapestry, which then starts to unravel. Very often, at first glance, our lives seem like a confusing jumble, much like the back of a tapestry.

In times of turmoil especially, we battle to see the big picture and feel lost in the chaos of it all. But then, when we investigate a little deeper, some common threads start to appear and the picture starts to come into focus.

Everything is connected. This is one of the reasons I love Astrology so much, because each chart I look at reveals these threads and reminds me daily of the Divine Symmetry and perfection that exists.

When looking back on the transits to a natal chart, they clearly show us where our defining moments have been. Like landmarks on a road map, these moments mark key points on our life’s journey.

Very often they feel like crises or huge challenges at the time, but when we look back at them, they almost always are invitations to shift and change and grow.

Descansos

There is something very healing and nurturing about sifting through the waters of our past every now and again.

Clarissa Pinkola Estés, in her classic book ” Women who Run with Wolves” , describes the process of “Descansos”, which is a Spanish word that means rest or resting place.

We’ve all seen those little wreaths on the side of a road, marking or decorating the site of a tragic accident in which somebody died. Clarissa explains that we often come to a time (usually around midlife) when we  feel as though our lives are just a mass of broken hearts, marriages, dreams and promises ( a bit like looking at the back of that tapestry?)

We battle to make sense of it all.   She recommends that when we get to this point, we make a time-line of our lives, acknowledge where the significant milestones ( she describes them as small and big deaths)  have taken place and then decorate them with a descansos.

This is one of the most powerful processes I have done for the following reasons

  • We start to identify the threads that run through our stories – the ups, the downs, the losses the victories, the dark threads and the light, all making up the tapestry of who we are today.
  • We are able to see and acknowledge how and where we have triumphed… and if you’re reading, then you have triumphed!
  • We can then nurture ourselves and decorate our own souls in gratitude, as opposed to lamenting our supposed mistakes and failures.

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our own story is the bravest thing we will ever do” Brene Brown

There’s another benefit to looking at our lives in this way. When we start to identify common threads on the back of our personal tapestry, something else rather magical starts to happen. Our golden threads are revealed. These are the threads that lead us to our highest potential, to our dharma, to our Soular Power. But more about that next time, when the sun moves into Leo.

spider web

For now, let’s make the most of the Sun’s passage through Cancer. Let’s be kind parents to ourselves, nurture ourselves, treat ourselves and others the way we would want to treat a precious child. Let’s not repress our feelings, because they are our inner compasses. Let’s feel into them and see what they have to tell us.

There is deep healing there. Anita Moorjani, who had terminal cancer, went into a coma where she had a near death experience and came back fully healed explains her experience like this

“ I saw my life intricately woven into everything I’d known so far. My experience was like a single thread woven through the huge and complexly colourful images of an infinite tapestry. All the other threads represented my relationships, including every life I’d touched. The threads represented every other person who’d ever come into  my life, whether they related to me in a positive or a negative way. The Universe makes sense! I understood that I owed it to my self to everyone I met and to life itself to always be an expression of my own unique essence.

THE TAPESTRY OF LIFE WORKSHOPS

This theme, right here, is my passion  and is the basis of SOULAR POWER. It’s forms the basis of all the work I do – the astrology, the navigation and the workshops and retreats. So – I’m very very excited to be running two separate workshops on this theme over the next two months.

It will be most beneficial to do both workshops, as they have been designed to run sequentially. You can either do one Saturday workshop in July and one in August or attend four Wednesday morning classes each month.

PART ONE – COME HOME TO YOUR HEART In July, the focus is on Self Nurturing. We will do a timeline of our lives and then make a mixed media photographic collage (with pics from our lives) to decorate and celebrate ourselves and what we have triumphed over.

PART TWO – FIND YOUR GOLDEN THREAD In August we will start to identify our golden threads, which show us the way to our highest potential. We will spend the day creating our very own personal labyrinth. I’ll be sharing some insights on this theme on FACEBOOK over the next month. Please join in the conversation and share how you connect to your intuition!

THE ART OF LISTENING WORKSHOPS

I still have space on my last  THE ART OF LISTENING workshop on 24th June, where I will be teaching you how to make your own deck of Soul Guidance Oracle Cards.

Lifelight Astrology 17th May 2017

shadow gifts

Well, it’s been a pretty hectic few months and many of us feel as though we’re still taking one step forwards and a few backwards … a little like wading through the mud!

Astrologically, a couple of planets that were retrograde have turned direct, but Saturn and Pluto are still going backwards… so there’s a lot more reflecting and reassessing on the cards and a bit of shadow play too.

The sun’s journey through Taurus is helping us to do this in a real, down to earth way.

I love this passage from “Love it Forward” by Jeff Brown. “ I am not interested in enlightenment if it means detachment from the emotional body, the earth plane, the challenges of being human. I am interested in “enrealment”, because it means that my most spiritual moments are inclusive, arising right in the heart of all that is human: joy and sorrow, shopping list and unity consciousness, fresh mangos and stale bread. Enrealment is about living in all aspects of reality simultaneously, rather than only those realms that feel the most comfortable. We are not just the light, or the mind, or the emptiness, or perpetual positivity. We are the everything. It’s ALL God, even the dust that falls off my awakening heart. ‘

So how can we bring Enrealment to the remainder of the retrograde season?

I’ve covered the retrogrades a bit in recent blogs, but let’s explore Saturn and Pluto a bit more, as they both deal with the shadow, which we tend to try and avoid, even though it is always attached to us. Have you ever considered that the brighter the light, the bigger the shadow?   There are a multitude of gifts to be found in our dark bits, as long as we’re prepared to shine the light there.

Saturn has been retrograde since April the 5th and will be until 27th August.  When the stern teacher is in Sagittarius, he kind of finger-waggingly demands  that we look beyond our fears and blocks and try to see things from a higher, broader perspective.  We have the chance in the next couple of months to really become compassionate parents to ourselves and to reflect on  our self -imposed limitations. If we experience what might feel like a betrayal during this time, we need to ask where we might have betrayed either ourselves or somebody else and what it may be teaching us.  Saturn asks us to reflect on where we are over-critical or merciless with ourselves and others, how we are handling stress, responsibility and the practicalities of life.  How committed are we to what we really want to do and are we sabotaging ourselves in any way? Where do we push ourselves beyond our limits and what are the consequences? How do we deal with hard knocks and problems? You will feel Saturn’s effects most clearly in the house that it’s moving through. If you have a copy of your chart, look for 21 to 26 degrees Sagittarius. Here’s a brief description of the houses that you can use as a reference.

Pluto, the planet of transformation,  is still retrograde too, and will be until October. We’ll feel the effects more acutely if he crosses over a planet or house cusp in our charts.

During a Pluto retrograde period,  issues of power, control and transformation can arise – and unconscious patterns can come drifting up to the surface. (the area in your chart and life will be where 16 to 19 degrees Capricorn is situated).

Where do you feel manipulated or controlled?  Where and how do you manipulate or control? What are you holding on to, that you might need to let go of?  This might be a person, a home, a habit, a belief or an ideal. What, in your life needs to die, in order for something else to be reborn? We are asked (without judgement) to observe our unconscious knee-jerk reactions, as well as the stories we tell ourselves. When you think about it, pain and struggle usually arise when we attach a story to a particular event.

For example.

FACT – The rain is leaking through my roof. On it’s own there is no pain, no struggle. It’s just a factual statement. A child might even see it as a joyful event!

STORY – The pain enters when our minds start to tell us stories about the leaking roof.   For example:  “It wasn’t installed properly in the first place;  I told Blogs to fix it – he never listens;  I’m not able to cope with all these responsibilities;  This house is falling to bits; I don’t have the money, time or knowledge to fix it; I’m useless.…and on and on it goes, until we’re right in the middle of an almighty struggle with yourself and life.

As we spiral further and further down into our stories, we can start to feel more and more overwhelmed and disgruntled.  Only when we can employ the mature observer (Saturn), can we see it as it really is and detach from the drama.

If we’re not able to find the observer, our stories and struggles can feel like a never-ending looped recording.

Remember the story of the road?  Here it is with a slightly different spin.   You’re walking down a road in the dark and you fall into a hole.   The second time, you carry a torch, so you can see the hole, maybe you look inside it and then walk around it. The third time, you choose a different road.

If there is a particular situation that keeps on repeating in your life, it might be an idea to approach it from an entirely different perspective, shine a light into the corners and see what you find… or make a completely new choice!

If you would like more clarity on how Saturn and Pluto are working with you, to shine a light into your particular dark patches, and reveal the way forward,  you might want to  book a one hour session with me.  See below or email me for details.

We’ll be celebrating the last day of the sun’s journey through Taurus on the 20th May with my ART OF EARTHING workshop, where we’ll be re-establishing our connection to mother Nature. I have two spots left, if you’d like to join us. See below or email me for details.

The Sun moves into  Gemini on the 21st, ushering in a month where the focus is on communication. To work with this energy, I will be hosting two ORACLE CARD workshops, where you will make and interpret your very own deck of cards. If you’ve done this workshop before, it’s absolutely fine for you to do it again, as you will be adding to your existing card deck.  Every time I work with these cards on my own or with others, I find the guidance that comes through absolutely astounding, particularly in a group environment. See below or email me for details.

LIFELIGHT ASTROLOGY UPDATE 21 MARCH

firework

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Our new Astrological year has finally begun, with the sun entering Aries, the sign that governs new intentions, new beginnings and new life. This is the time of the year when we feel a real desire to emerge from the oneness, express our individuality, stand up, be seen and push forward with new initiatives.

The cusp on which Aries falls in your Natal chart is the area of your life which is where you will be wanting to focus your energy and  where a new cycle of expression will begin.

Some other important news is that Venus, the planet of love, peace, harmony and money,  is currently travelling retrograde through Aries, which means that she will be in the sign of the warrior for 13 weeks in total, compared to the normal 3 weeks she spends in a sign.

With her being retrograde, we are asked to re-visit our relationships, our money and our value systems. If there seem to be blockages in any of those areas, this is a good time to reassess them and make the changes that need to be changed.

When you combine the feminine energy of Venus with the fiery boldness, individualism and assertion of Aries,  you can end up with a ragingly angry feminine force OR a person who stands gently, but firmly in her own power, despite the opinion and actions of others.

This is the time of the year, where we are encouraged to explore our uniqueness, to embrace life to the full… to move, to sing, to dance, to make art, to make love, to adventure….  to emerge from the  shadows, step into our power and boldly embrace the next step in our lives.

Where are you unique?

How do you stand out from the crowd?

What is one audacious dream you have for your life? ‘

Where in your life, are you prepared to make one bold step into the future?

Email me for details on the BORN TO BE BOLD Workshops in April.

We still have space on our EARTH AND AUTUMN ODYSSEYS as well, so be sure not to miss them.

Lifelight Astrology – Full Moon 14th February – Lets Fall in Love

love water

Lets fall in love

Well, Valentines Day’s  here, perfectly coinciding with a beautiful full moon in Leo, which just happens to be in the sign of romance, celebration and grand gesture. Leo also happens to rule the heart and connects us to our deepest desires, creativity and inner light.

So… it’s a wonderful time to give and receive love – as we’ve been reminded of for weeks at every turn – it’s like a heart / rose / cuddly toy hurricane out there!  But setting the consumerism aside, let’s use this opportunity to connect with the real symbolism of it all.

Let us ask ourselves this Full Moon… this Valentines Day…

  • What is love…. Actually?
  • Is Love a verb?
  • Is Love a vibration? – see the shape the word love makes on water above – Dr Emoto
  • What does the commandment – “Love one another” really mean
  • Who do you love?
  • How do you love?
  • How unconditional is your love?

The way I see it, pure unconditional love is not a sentiment. It  is the most powerful vibration, force, energy, in the entire Universe and it emanates from the human heart.

In my experience when we’re able to bring ourselves into the present moment and drop into our hearts (fall in love)  we feel truly connected and at peace, regardless of what’s happening “out there”.  Automatically, we start to flow and vibrate with, rather than against everything else.  (Click  here for details on my next Love Mandala workshop).  It’s when we’re disconnected from our hearts, that we separate ourselves, resist what is and experience suffering.

Speaking of suffering, it might not be all gorgeous red roses for some of us at the moment. Good Old Saturn’s firmly plonked himself in Scorpio and is squaring our beautiful romantic Full Moon! That means there’s a good chance that some of our deepest issues and perceptions about love (or lack thereof) may be stirred up in the next few days. Those tough old thorns might very well poke through the surface and demand attention, like hungry children … lack of self worth,  abandonment, rejection, aloneness, fear, doubt…

All we can do is invite them in with kindness and ask what they have to teach (Saturn is the teacher, after all).  Ask yourself how you can show your hungry child some love. What is the most loving thing you can do for you? It might be to simply get some rest. Lots of us are feeling more tired than normal. When you consider that the Sun represents our physical Vitality and  Saturn represents limitation, it figures that the combination will be Limited vitality / energy … so take some time to chill and kick back a bit.

And ask yourself – can you love yourself and others, thorns and all; can you can accept yourself, others and your life situation as it is right now… in this moment?

Love is such a big word, such a big subject, that I’ve decided to dedicate a whole month to it. Starting tomorrow, I will do my best to post something interesting on Love on my Facebook page every day – It would be wonderful if you would participate, share and help to lift our personal and planetary vibration to one of Love.

Let’s fall in love this month

When we live in the vibration of love, we express compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, respect, generosity, joy, peace—all that inspires, empowers and enhances life.

This Valentine’s day,  please spread the love further than your lover/husband/wife. Let the other people in your life know they are loved and appreciated too.

With love

Michelle
